Hmmmmm Vodka..... I may resort to drinking once the bottoms are put on!!!

ahh i've been there done that! I had my braces for 2 and a half years and went through lots of pain with them each month it was just as bad or worse! i've had the whole power chain thing i've had surgery and then a lock n key type thing and more! They had to prescribe me pain medicine it was so bad! Im 16 and just got them off in january and im loving it ! It was well worth it ! Prom this weekend will be my first highschool dance without them!!! yay! Hang in there it will be worth it! an ice pack worked for me!

How long are you going to have them on? When did you get them?

I had them put on up in Northern Cali and wore them for 3 months then moved to Southern Cali and it took 6 months to get an apt with an Ortho cause nobody would see me! "We don't take transfers" Turns out nobody takes transfer patients! Reason being that the harware you have in your mouth is never compadable with their systems... ugh! And that means that they spend an hour consulting with you only to have to give you the bad news that you have to pull everything off and start over.... at whick 99% of people tell men to get hosed and bail. A huge waste of the Dr's time... so they just don't make the apts... So I managed to get my step sons ortho to see me... He gave me the bad news and the inside scoop on why I couldn't get in anywhere...

Soooooo, I yanked everything off... Scrapping 2,000 investment in whatever?? And started all over this time on a great payment plan... I had to do something... I had the choice of removing the old ones and letting all the work that had been done reverse itself... or continue the treatment. Hubby refused to let me give it up... even with things being as tight as they were at the time... and I'm glad that he held me to it... cause everything worked out and they are looking sooooo good now. Pain and all! LOL

So they've been on for about 4 1/2 months now and I should be in them for a year and a half....

The bite plate should only be in for 4 to 5 months... That is going to SUCK! My back teeth won't touck for over 2 months! I won't be able to chew solid food! LOL Who knows what I'm going to do with that??? Thank God for the Vita Mix!!! Lots of Smoothies for me!!!!

Haha awww i FEEL your pain!! I had braces for FIVE.. yes FIVE years bac in Highschool!!!!!!!! Just think about the end result and how you'll have beautiful straight teeth when their off!!

PROM!!!!! How exciting!!! Promise to post pictures!!! I never went to mine

I left school early got the GED and started work way too young... I missed so much of the being a teenager stuff! I'm soooo jealous!

Please post Pictures! And be sure to SMILE!! I can't wait to see your dress!! You must be so excited!!! UGH! I want to go!!! I have the braces... think you could sneak me in???

I can feel the pain all the way over here in kent (UK), I have had soooooooooo much dental treatment over the past year, including vaneers on my top 6 teeth, all that drilling etc etc etc. Just think about the time that it will all be over and you will have the best smile ever. I have no experience with braces -- so I don't feel your pain.

But I can sincerely say that I am so very sorry you are hurting. If you were close I would make you home-made fruit slushes using fresh organic fruit and some seriously delicious homemade ice cream!

Now Cindy.... You know that I am known to get on planes and fly cross country to visit YT'rs... You do know that making such statements could get you into serious trouble!!!

People in pain are known to resort to very drastic measures to find comfort... I am in pain... I am not above drastic measures! I may just show up at your doorstep!

lol of course! Im very excited love my dress etc! its my first prom since im a junior so its something new and exciting !

There is only ONE flavor of home-made ice cream. Vanilla using heavy cream, and real vanilla beans....

Girl, give me until the middle of June when school is out and I have had time to thoroughly clean the house and come on!!!!! We can go pick our own fresh organic fruits and veges..... maybe blueberries will be ready! Yummy!

Have any of you ladies considered trying INVISALIGN? Itz much less pain, I have heard.

I never had to wear braces and still do not need to, my side of the family is blessed with good teeth and bones. However, I remember the pain my daughter went through. If I had it to do over again for her, I'd definitely let her have the INVISALIGN.

Why suffer? I know itz a bit more costly, but so worth it. My cousin is using them now.
