| Operation Homecoming! Hey everyone! There is a show that is coming on tonight called Operation Homecoming. I don't know if any of you have seen the commercials for it or not, but it's coming on at 9 Pm my time (PST)... and it will be on TLC. It's going to show soldiers that were deployed reuniting with their families... I think it's going to show some other stuff to do with our soldiers. It looks like it's going to be good. It will be on for I think 3 hours. Being a Marine Wife, I am definantly going to watch it, so I can cry my eyes out.. Just thought I'd let you all know, in case anyone wants to watch it. I know we have a bunch of patroitic folks on this forum, and God Bless all of you! We need more people like that! Happy Memorial Day everyone! Hope you all are doing well, and having a great day! As our soldiers sail away Lord To defend the USA Surround them with Your angels Please protect them everyday They are so brave to go And face the enemy They stand up for what is right And to keep our country free Make each soldier strong Lord And fill them with Your peace Remind them that they are loved And our prayers will never cease Until they are home again Safely in our arms We thank you Lord for watching over them And keeping them from harm

| I watched the first two stories that were shown on Operation Homecoming. I wept during the story of Sgt. Keith's story and the homecoming of his unit. The second story was really awesome. To see that husband filling both roles to his children and also being there for all the other families with deployed members was inspiring. It was a great show! I guess I'll need to stay away from these types of shows as long as I know my son is in harm's reach because my emotions are too close to the surface. My son is at his first location since 7:30 pm Thursday night. The first two days, he was able to check in using chat. Since then, no one has seen him online. The next year will seem like eternity. | I am so grateful for all of our men and women who serve our country. Words cannot express the sacrifices that they and their family members make to protect us and our freedoms. Lisa, I will pray for your son. Please keep us informed when you can. Melanie, I will pray for your husband as well. Hope both of them stay out of harm's way.

| OMG i have been so busy i have not even had the tv on my nephew is over seas Army my i have 2 brother in laws and 1 nephew that just came back and my daughter's boyfreind is marines reserves (but 1 group of them just got called) and i pray that they all come home and wanted you to know that is take a speical person to be married to someone in the miltary The Military Wife The average age of the military wife is 20 years old. She isn't old enough to buy a beer, but is old enough to manage a whole household on her own and maybe she has a kid or two. She probably never saw herself loving a man who was in the military, but she loves him regardless. Her penmanship has improved over the last few months, due to the excessive letter writing she has been doing. She cries a lot because she misses the man she swore to love. Her life isn't complete without him. She looks very tired, because of her many nights without sleep, due to a late night phone call that never came or a call that came and kept her up all night, just because she heard his voice, she is too overjoyed to sleep. As a wife, she is classified as a dependent, but she is totally independent. She tends to her household, her kids, her schoolwork, and her job, all without her husband. She manages to wear a smile, even though inside she's crying. She understands that the man she loves has to go far away. She understands that he can be taken away from her in a moments notice. She feels a great sense of pride and probably cries whenever she hears the National Anthem, sees a flag blowing in the breeze, or watches the news and hears about another death in Iraq she worries that it might be him. She goes weeks without a call or a letter, but she writes him whenever she gets a free moment. She knows how to convert civilian time into military time. She knows how to iron his clothes and how to get the creases just right. Before he left she used to complain if she didn't see him for a day or two, but now she gets annoyed when she hears someone complaining about not seeing their boyfriends. She may not have seen him for months but she remembers everything about him, every scar he has, the way he smells, whether or not he snores. She has every picture of him and them out and in frames, she stares at them for hours on end, she has read every letter at least 40 times. Even though her man is a half a world away, she still manages to go on with her life, as he would want her to. You may not know what she looks like, but as soon as you see her in the store you'll know that her husband is a world away without even having to speak to her. She's the one who's half frowning half smiling, she has at least one Support out Troops pin that she wears and one that's on her car. Half her wardrobe is based on his military branch. She owns lots of stuff that has his branch on it. She never knew that she could love the color camouflage green, tan, navy blue, red or black so much. Next time you see her, you'll know her, thank her for what the man she loves is doing. She will greatly appreciate it and she will smile and thank you, and just because you thanked her she'll smile the rest of the day! my son is 14 and wants to be a navy seal when he grows up |

| I just want to let you know, Carters mom, that your son is in my prayers. I know it must be very hard for you. My mom has been in your position, since my brother is active Navy and has been deployed 3 times. But he loves what he does, and he loves this country! Be strong. Just please remember that everyone is praying for him, and all of the other soldiers over there right now. My husband is not overseas right now. He has not yet had to be deployed, but it is very likely that he will eventually have to go. It will be super hard for me, I know this already. But I know that I WILL make it through it, because him and I already have made it through a lot of hard times. Times like this only make us stronger. I know that is a fact! Rene, the thing you posted about military wives.. I really liked that. And I can relate to so many of those statements. I will be 20 this year, and I am amazed when I step back and look at all of the stuff that I've dealt with since I have been with my husband. He's been in the Marines for only 2 years, and I have already learned SO MUCH! But I am so proud of him and I, for all that we've made it through! All of you that have family deployed right now, they will be in my thoughts and prayers! I pray every night for all of the soldiers overseas, and their families. Not only are our soldiers brave for what they do, but so our their families and spouses for staying SO strong while they are gone! My heart sincerely goes out to every single one of them!

| It was a wonderful program!! We watched every second of it! We have had several nephews who have been deployed and came home safely and only one who will be going back again soon [he is my son's step brother and we are very close to this precious young man!]. My nephew, [just like my child] is a civilian and has been there for almost a year. I am praying that he will come home when his contract is up and not go back! I'm trying not to be selfish but it's so frightening where he is and what their job is that I can't help it. I am so very proud of him and all our soldiers for the wonderful job they are doing! Lisa, we will continually pray for your son and all the other sons and husbands that are there! Maybe it won't be too awfully long before their jobs there will be over and they will all be back at home safely!

| The show will repeat on June 4th at 2 PM Central Time on TLC. Thanks to all for your prayers and thoughts. I don't think it would be so difficult knowing that Brian is in the sandbox if he weren't headed for the wrong border to be near. His mission is the second highest priority of all the Marine Corp right now. I have to remember that he was handpicked for this for a reason . . . because if anyone can succeed, it is him. He is the lowest ranking member of his 10-man team. All the others are staff seargants, GSgt, MSgt, Capt, Major. Their are two corporals but Brian is filling the position of a Sgt. He should be promoted within the next two months. The Major attached to Brian right away during training and selected Brian to be "with" him specifically. I'm truly proud of my son but am looking forward to when he along with every other US Military person is able to come home from Iraq. Thanks again! Lisa

| Melanie you are very young my nephew and his wife are very young also he went to Boot camp in july last year and then they got married and got deployed in Jan this year. They are expecting their first baby in Oct. I cant wait for that but she is in Georgia now but comes home often i got lucky enough that one of the guys over there took some pictures and sent them to us. He also gets on the instant messanger once in awhile so we get to chat. My daughters boyfriend and best freind are marine reserves and her friend just got the news that he will be deployed in 2 weeks so we are hoping that her BF will not. I could not watch that whole show last night (i found it carters mom thanks for reply) it made me to sad. I hope that everyone there has a safe return and very soon. |
