| what is the difference.... I have people ask me about american bulldogs and I wonder...what is the difference between an american bulldog and a "pit bull" . there are so many "bulldogs". american staffordshire...american pit bull terrier, american bulldog, etc. just curious...does anyone know? when someone says to me "american bulldog" or "american staffordshire" should I consider that a pit bull? I am asking for my work...in case you are wondering thanks

| with my job, there are certain breeds we do not accept in our homes and the pit bull is one of them. i am wondering if we could accept any of these breeds or if they are pretty much one in the same? they look sooooooooo much alike!! do they all have those "lock down" jaws?

| yeah, i have looked on a bunch of sites when I did a google search...all I gather is a bunch of technical info....I guess I am looking for more of the "are they like pit bulls" kind of info. I know insurance will not allow us to accept the pitts but dont know if these are considered one in the same...

| There is no listing on the AKC for American Bulldog nor for the Pit Bull So they might be the same dog. |

| i went to wikipedia and there are listings for american pit bull terrier, american staffordshire terrier, and american bulldog. they all have slightly different looks about them, but at the bottom of the page for the american bulldog, it said that they are all closely related. so...i guess that is my answer I'd rather play safe than sorry, so I will just not accept any of those breeds. I just hate turning people away because of their pets, but it is my company I have to look out for, and insurance just won't allow it

Most pit bulls that I have encountered are very nice and affectionate. the problem with them is they are unpredictable. Most every time one has injured anyone, no one seems to know why, they just do. and everyone that knows the dog, claims it was just the sweetest dog ever. | |

| oh girl, you are too funny!!! no, I own a property management company with over 100 rental homes (and growing). We are pet friendly at all of our homes but we do have breed restrictions because of insurance. and pitts are one of the restricted breeds. I have known many sweet and loving pitts, so it is not my decision, but the insurance restrictions that we have to follow.
