chantix, help stop smoking this is my second day taking this pill. another attempt for me to quit smoking . anyone ever take this pill?? i know you can smoke on it, it has no nicotine in it... after a few days give or take, they say the urge to smoke is not there anymore..or i think some people get this nasty taste in their mouth... would like to hear from some of you how it worked for them, and when does it take affect |

I know a few really "hard core" smokers who have used Chantix and have been successful. I'm going to try it in the near future. Keep us posted on how your doing with it!! |
im trying.. i just dont want to get nauseaus like i did with the patch,, i think thats one of the side affects... so far the urge is not there, but its like i just want one cause im bored or im used to just ligting up, just because.... my b/f quit new years, he has been waiting and nagging me for 3 months.. pain in the a--. |

I don't smoke but my daughter used chantix .After the first couple days she found it very eazy. She has been smoke free for 5 months now. She is amazed at how things smell, taste and that she thinks other people who smoke smell gross. Good luck, we know you can do it. Your bf is a great support system having done it himself. The Hubster used this when he stopped smoking. It's a no-nicotine program. It's been 4 + years and he has not touched a cig since. He smoked 1+ packs a day depending. |

I had the patch but did not work. I have been trying to quit for 3 years now...and I am still having a cigarette while typing. I am a very naughty girl.LOL |

My nausea started on day 3. It's just an awful feeling unless I can get something on my stomach, which sucks cause I'm trying to lose weight too. I usually don't eat that early 6:30 or 7:00, when I feel the nausea. This morning I did drink a whole bottle of water and that did seem to help, but the bus route couldn't get over fast enought...LOL I'm actually finding I'm going longer between smokes without trying, it's just happening. |

yes you do need a prescription with this .. , but it only cost me 40.00. so far my urges are diminishing, but still smoking alittle and thats ok. |

Sorry dont know what I did wrong in last post Stick with it!You can do it!:thumbup: I quit 4 years ago with determination,it was hard!I didnt realize how bad it smelled.I still get an urge sometimes.My mom tried Chantix a few months ago,shes still smoking,I dont think she was ready.I wish she would quit it will be 1 year in June since she had surgery for lung cancer.She also lost a brother and a sister since May 2006 d/t lung cancer,so I think she felt like she should quit,just not for her!I do know 2 people that swear by Chantix.Just do it for yourself and dont give up even if you have a setback it is an accomplishment.GOOD LUCK!! |
Today I ran into a teacher that I used to work with and she said that she has not had a cigarette for 6 weeks since she started taking chantix. I never even heard of this pill until this thread was started. Is it something relatively new? |

im still smoking, the pill really hasnt kicked in yet. im only on my 6th day. i have 3 more weeks to go tillthe end of the pills...i still have cigarettes handy that someone gave me and its hard that way... as soon as they are done, im gonna try my hardest never to pick one up ever again.. im tired of wasting money on trying to quit this disgusting habit... i dont really feel the urge anymore, but i smoke cause they are there..sick huh? i think this pill makes me tired cause at night, im wiped out around 830.. i mean really wiped out... |
I've been smoking (killing myself) for 10 years and finally decided that I wanted to quit. My doctor prescribed Chantix and it worked. I stopped smoking completely after the second day with no drawbacks or nicotine attacks. It definately works and takes very little willpower. I do admit that it made me very nauseaus though. |
im waiting for the nausea,, when did it happen.? after how many days of taking it???? just want to prepare myself...im on the 6th day. thats great stopping after the second day.. congrats |
