BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | Suggestions Please My Parents has been tossing the idea around about opening up a "Family Lounge" This would be a place where families can come and enjoy great food and music but don't have to worry about smoke and alcohol. Kids love to dance, and it's great exercise. But we have no place around here where a family can come and bring there kids to a smoke and alcohol free environment. Do any of you have this sort of family atmosphere around your area? Is this a good idea and would it be a good money maker? all opinions are welcome please! |

| The kids around here pretty much all drink and smoke so I wouldn't think they'd go if they weren't allowed to. How are they in your area? everywhere is different. |

| Every place is smoke free in CA. but I'm not sure how well a family lounge would do here anyway. First of all, young people don't want to try having fun in front of their parents. Maybe there is different. |

The only alcohol & smoke free place I know of around here that is family oriented is church. They do hold different dances & functions for familys. We are a smoke free state, but it is also a vacation state. I think alot of drinking goes on down here. I wouldn't know if a family lounge would be a a hit or not.

| Just outside of Austin, we have a restaurant that has an outdoor music stage/venue. Every Thurs/Fri/Sat they have a live band and you are right, the kids have a ball dancing up a storm!! They do serve alcohol as it is a restaurant - but it is mostly families or just couples sitting around watching the band. This probably isn't what you are talking about, a lounge is not a restaurant - but I just thought I would say that having a place to go as a family where there is music and the kids (and adults) can dance is a big hit here in Austin.

| I think that's a great idea, especially for families with young kids. It would go over in NYC, especially for a Sunday afternoon or a Friday night when there's not a lot to do with the kids except spend tons of money. We have certain movie theaters that allow Moms or Dads in with babies a couple of afternoons each week and they're a big hit. Good luck with that - it's a nice idea. |
