| I got a Ticket!!! So yesterday I was on my way to the store and I get pulled over... the officer claims I was speeding in a school zone.....oh and that the lights were flashing... which they were not..... I am sooooo mad.... do you think I should argue this at court or just pay my fine? I forgot to mention he pulled me over almost 2 blocks after the school zone... I honestly don't think I was speeding... |

| It's pretty much your word against his I know here in Utah they are super strict about speeding in school zones. I would just pay the fine but that's just my opinion.

| You can go to Court and alot of times the officer doesnt show up and its dropped. If he does show up you can just say you want to pay the ticket

| The same thing happened to my boyfriend. He just had to find out what time the flashers turned on and off. Unfortunately in his case they were on & he had to pay the fine ... even though school had been out for a long time and even the man who walks the kids across the street was gone.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Definatley go to court and if nothing else pay the fine and go to traffic class so it comes off your record. My 21 year old dtr just got her 1st speeding ticket 55 in a 35 so she got ticketed for reckless driving which she went to court and had to pay 211.00 and signed up for traffic class (4 hours) then it will not go against her record.

| I would go to court. The Judge will probably reduce it. Good luck.

| i would fight it if you can gather up all your proof. see what times the lights go on and off see the mileage from where he pulled you over at from the school i know that around here its 500 yards i think it is from the school and you are out of the school zone. and your ticket should have the time and the exact spot where he ticketed you and if they think you are not going to fight it they usually dont go to court. i know around here in the next town over the actually have a cop who attends all of his tickets and such but he is a k9 cop see he has to i guess back up maybe what his dog did or something i dont know, but every friday he is at court, hes my neighbor but he works in the next town over and he has some huge german shepards and they are mean looking and if he has them outside they cannot be talked to becuase you will mess up their training thats crazy but yeah i would fight it if you can get your facts

| Cindy when I lived in Dallas I got a speeding ticket. when I asked about traffic school to keep it off my record they also told me about a probation I could do. You pay a fine. Half at the time you sign up and Half at the end of 90 days. And as long as you don't get ANY moving violations nation wide in that 90 days. your ticket is totally off your record. So if you don't fight it. this may be a option. |

| I would check with the school and see what their timers are set on too. If you are right about the timer then the whole thing will probably get thrown out. If not, you might check for online traffic schools too. My son is taking his required course online for pre-licensing. I saw on that site they have the same sort of course for people with tickets. This is for Florida so might be different in TX.

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | IMO it honestly is not worth fighting. I seriously would not waste your time, lol. The judge is going to believe the cop because WHY would he be lying about you speeding in a school zone? I'm not saying he didn't lie about it, but the judge is much more likely to believe the cop. If people could get away with it, judges would have a whole slew of people in there saying oh no I wasn't speeding or doing this or that, the cop was lying and blah blah blah. It's sad, but the judge is much more likely to take the cops word over just some "random citizen" who wants to get out of a ticket And trust me, the cop WILL show up in court I hope that didn't sound rude because thats not how I mean it, but I'm just telling you what the judge will be thinking. And I totally believe you when you say you weren't speeding - but it's your word against a police officers. A similar thing happened to me where I was going through a yellow light. Well, just as I was DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH the light - it turned red. Mind you I know because I looked directly at it as I SAW the cop parked, just waiting to give someone a ticket. Well what do ya know That someone was me, lol. I actually asked him how I could possibly be pulled over for that when the light turned red AFTER I was already directly underneath the thing. I mean my God, what did he want me to do, stop dead smack in the middle of an intersection? Anyway he claimed that the light was red as I was GOING THROUGH it, but I had 3 other people in the car with me at the time and they ALL said that it sooooo was not red when I went through it, honest to God it wasn't. There is just NO WAY. It only turned red as my car was underneath the traffic light and I would have SURELY got pulled over if I would have stopped right there in the middle of an intersection - that would have caused a HUGE problem lol. Anyway, basically the cop had been sitting there parked just waiting to give someone a ticket - and at the spur of the moment he saw me go through - and said, ahhh....why not? He was obviously just too excited about handing out a freaking ticket and pulled me over right away anyway. So anyway, I know good and well he was wrong to give me a ticket that day, but I was not about to waste my time fighting it in court. After all, it was my word against his and SERIOUSLY - who are they more likely to believe I mean REALLY. I just paid the stupid thing (as p!ssed as I was about it) and got it over and done with and out of the way P.S. - Why don't you just call and tell them that you want to take defensive driving and it will reduce the price of your ticket dramatically That's what my hubby did when he got a speeding ticket - it's a HECK of a lot easier than going to court and nothing goes on your driving record

It also doesn't matter if his lights were flashing or not. The judge will over care about one thing...whether you were speeding or not. And if you say you don't "think" you were speeding,...you have no case. If you are to fight this, you have to demonstrate why you were not speeding. Here is something that may help you. http://www.ticketassassin.com/ | |
