So after 4 phone calls they are going to transfer her to an excellent rehab facility tomorrow if she doesn't decline any. My Mom has a very strong fear of feeding tubes down her throat and made me promise not to have one put in ever. So I talked to her doctor and the social worker and nurse and they suggested they put one in her stomach that doesn't go down her throat, so I agreed as she needs to get nutrition and can't swallow food yet. They won't take her in rehab without a feeding tube. Now my sister said she talked to my cousin who was suggesting Hospice (she's a nurse) and they think we shoudn't do it, I told my sister I made the best decision I could as Mom will starve to death and I want her to have a chance at rehab before I give up. Thanks for the continuing support and prayers. |
Patti, I'm so glad you're there for your mom. She needs you to advocate for her. You made the right decision with the feeding tube...I would have chosen that also! She HAS to have nutrition...without that, she cannot get better. I think about you so much and will keep on praying! Hugs to you!
