| ?? for those of you in Houston Area? From my house in Brenham I can see an extremely large fire really far off in the distance. We can see Houston lights from our house which is up on a high hill so I'm wondering if this fire could be in Houston (or somewhere on the outskirts - Brenham/Hempstead side of Houston). I'm talking huge.... like maybe it's some chemical plant or something. It's possible it's closer and not really in Houston but I was just wondering. I'm not finding any "breaking news" on the Channel 2 news site and I can't remember the call letters of channel 11 and 13 so I thought I'd bring my question here. I'm gonna search some more for the other Houston tv sites. Really wild sight to see from all the way over here!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | it's on the news now - a big Gas Explosion ...they said the 290 area - Fry road & 529 - which is NW Houston. they're talking about evacuating some areas but don't have that much info yet. I hope no one was hurt - but who needs the news reporters when we have ANGIE Reporting from Brenham ?? |

| Sorry.... no pictures. Hubby was not home and had the digital camera with him. Pretty cool from this view though. I knew it had to be some kind of gas related fire.... it was huge!! It only lasted for about an hour (at least our view of it) but the beginning was unreal. I always knew we could "see Houston" from here but didn't realize just how well.... for those of you not familiar with the area, I would say the fire was about an hour and a half away from us. An elderly neighbor of ours actually called and said she could see a fire and asked if it was Mrs. so-and-so's (another neighbor across the road from us) house. She thought it was that close. She's kinda behind us though so she wasn't seeing it from as high as us. I'm gonna go check out the new stories now..... I hope no one was seriously injured.
