I looked up to make sure its true, please pass this along.

Shane Bernier is a little boy who is 8 and lives in Canada. He has terminal Leukemia. he was granted a wish through the Make a Wish Foundation. His wish is to hold the record for the most birthday cards received. Please pass this information on to everyone you know to help make his wish come true. His birthday is in May, but all the cards are being tallied as they come so they are asking that you set your deadline for mailing the b-day cards for the end of February beginning of March. This is such a simple way to pay it forward.

THis is a scam. It started a couple of years ago. Notice, a PO box. Don't send anything. They want your address. NEVER send ANYTHING to ANYONE that plays on your sympathy.

Also, NEVER EVER send those funny or sad things on to another person that you get from someone else. What to have good luck? DONT pass it on. THese are all scams to get your addressess and email addresses. Please just let your friends and family know NOT to pass things on to you. Your email will go to too many people.

same here it makes me want to send out like thirty cards to him but i dont know if that would count? but i will derfinately send one from each person in my household.

Hmmm. I just checked on Snopes.com and they say that this boy is for real. Besides, there's no reason to put a return address if that's a concern.

Ok not only does snopes say this is true, but here it is on an official website

Check things out before you accuse and also there is no way for someone to "track " your email.

I do think they can do the email tracking though somehow.

They can't track your email address...

As far as the PO Box thing - most of my family has a PO Box, how come a PO box makes something a scam?

We will be sending him some too! I have an 8 year old myself...I think I will have each of my kids make him one and then mail him one from my husband and myself too.

I find it more than a little unusual that this was going around almost two years ago. I still don't trust this, but if you send cards, don't put your return address on it.

I pasted the information about this little boy's story below. I copied it from his local news station's webpage. The scam about an ill child has been going around for more than 2 years, it's been going on since before email. It's been going on since when people would mail out chain letters in the US mail. This one is real though. You can even mail the cards to the local radio station.

There's a little boy in this city hoping for a very unique birthday gift this year. He's 7 and all he wants are cards.

Shane Bernier was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2004. He spends his days and nights at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

He says he wants the card because he likes seeing his name on paper. His supporters say the cards are a way to help him experience joy, an important step in recovery.

Shane's birthday is on May 30. If you're interested in sending him a card you can mail it to:
