How awful. We had something similiar happen when I was a kid. We use to raise pekes. We had 2 within just a few days of each other have litters and one was always very mean when she had babies. We knew not to go near her or even try to pet the puppies unless she was out of the box.

She snapped at a pup I don't remember if it was one of hers or from the other litter and put it's eye out. Of course we didn't go through having to have one put to sleep because of it.

I just can't imagine what they are going through. I wish them all the best in this difficult time.

I feel so horrible because my cousin is torn right now. She said she loved her too but that wasn't the first time she snapped. I have mixed feelings about the whole thing but I know she's hurt right now and I'm not going to tell her I felt she should have done something else other than take her to the aspca.

I'm also so mad about the vet she called and they stated they couldn't do anything for her if she didn't have money. That vet is my vet and I think the world of them but now I have mixed feelings about him. I'm thinking I shoud see another vet. She finally called one of her customers (my cousin works for our local newspaper) which is a vet and they told her to come right in and she's 40 mins away. She gave her a break and also set up payment arrangements.

I agree If The pit was not aggresive and she is still a puppy. and it was over a bone she was chewing Then I dont feel the pitt should be put to sleep. Even our Yorkies will fight over a bone They just have bigger and stronger jaws then our Yorkies rehomeing would be so much better

Im so sorry the little dog was hurt and going to lose an eye over it Its so hard on the kids too

Your cousin needs to know that most dogs will fight over bones , food ect.
The pitt should not of been able to have bones around the smaller dog.
The vets did this same thing to me, I didnt have money up front and they refused me vet care. My dog lost an eye and and the vet did not care for him with out money up front and my dog lost its eye over it. so sad.
