| Keely's Mommy | 02-10-2007 06:01 PM | My fiance and I go into Petland every Thursday after we eat dinner at a nearby resturant for "Puppy Time" to tie us over until we get to bring Keely home. We were assured by an associate that these dogs did not come from puppy mills. But after you think about it, it kinda made sense that they do. Every week there are only two or three dogs that were there the week before out of the original 40 or so. Whichs makes you think where are they getting all of these new dogs so quickly. Also what struck me as odd was every employee there treated us with respect and kindness until we mentioned that we had already bought our dog from a breeder and wasn't buying one from them. Since then they have been rude and cocky toward us when we go in there. If they were true pet lovers they would be happy that we did get a dog regardless if we got it from them or some place else, but as many have stated they are in it just for the money. When asked why their dogs were so highly priced over one's we've seen from home breeders they said "its because they are microchiped for their protection." After doing a small bit of research we found out that microchipping only costs about $20-$30 depending on where you go. They were marking up these puppies upwards to $400 more for a chip that costs $30 bucks. Thats messed up! The dogs they have are always so hyper and you go and sit in the little room with them and they are jumping all over the place and acting crazy. When we went and visited Keely today her and her siblings were perfectly calm until we started to play around with them and they got really excited, but not crazy shaking running around frantic like the ones at Petland. I guess thats the difference between a good breeder and a puppy store.
