| I'm looking in my Amish Cookbooks from Shipshewana, IN. I have one recipe but it's from the 60's when it was ok to eat raw eggs.

| Ice Cream for 6qt freezer Heat 1qt milk in double boiler, beat 6 eggs. When milk is hot, add a little to beaten eggs. Then stir eggs into hot milk. Continue heating and stirring until mixture slightly coats spoon. Remove from heat and add 3c sugar, 1t salt, 1pt cream, vanilla or extract to taste, and enough milk to full can. From Mrs Levi Bontrager. ##### It's from the 60's also and the only one that cooked the eggs. Also most people had their own chickens and cows. Lots of eggs and cream. Check online there's probably recipies that are a little healthier. Let us know how it turns out. Sounds like fun to me.

| If my dear dad was still alive, I'd get his ice cream recipe! He used to make it for us often, and it was mmm mmm good! Hey...we're having a heatwave here...it got to 1 above. The past few days have been in the -20's with -40 wind chills. I call it the frozen tundra!

| I don't think it's EVER too cold for homemade ice cream!!! I love the stuff & always get my grandmother to make me some for my birthday. (In Sept. when it's still REALLY hot here)
