| Kona stuck in tree ~ what to do? My Kona kitty is stuck in the neighbor's tree. I am of course freaking out because she is just sitting up there calling Momma, momma, litterally. Any suggestions? Call the fire dept? What do I do? Poor baby!

My furkids Donating Member | I don't know if the fire department does that anymore...around here they don't..peoples taxes have to pay everytime they go out on a call so taking kitty out of the tree is not on their priority list...Have you tried coaxing her down? She should come down by herself but if she doesn't....get like a big fishing net...climb the tree and scoop her up! I have seen them catch cats (on animal cops) in homes of horders (sp?). Good Luck!

| No need to call the fire dept... She will come down. Take a DEEP breath and get some cat food and call her. She is a cat, thats what they do. My moms cat would go to the roof and do the same thing, but they would get down the SAME way they got up there. |

| My neighbors are not home, or else I would be up that tree. They have a locked gate so I can't get in their backyard. There are no branches on the bottom for her to climb down on, she was probably chasing a darn squirrel. I shook some food over the fence, she just can't get down. I feel so bad for her. I will probably call the fire dept pretty soon. She was up another neighbor's tree a few weeks ago, no problem getting down from that one. I'm just sick......... And no, I can't jump over my fence, I'm too old......... Edited, I will wait awhile, thanks for all your advice. Deep breathes..... I'm freaking.........

| So, I decided to go to the Fire Dept, sometimes looking at a real person instead a phone call helps, no go, they don't rescue cats out of trees. I'm not too happy about that as I know they aren't busy as we live in a town of about 30,000 people. I'm just waiting it out, I wouldn't be so scared but we do have medium sized hawks occasionally, I guess I will spend my afternoon looking over the fence. I might try a hose with a high powered spray and see if I can hit her and make her come down.............

| I think she will come down too. A few years ago my cat was stuck in the tree all day crying at me too. But she finally inch by inch came down when she was getting hungry. I hope Kona gets brave and does the same thing. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | my cat used to get on the roof of an apartment I lived in and I had to use ladders to get him down - see if you can find a neighbor kid to help you - you do not need to be falling out of trees and breaking your neck woman !! The kids will help - they love stuff like this....just make sure the KID doesn't fall out or you can get sued lol - good luck !!! |

| Thanks all, I just got off the phone with Animal Control, the woman told me to ignore her completely. Bring the dogs in, and wait it out. She said it's not unusual for cats to stay in trees for 5 to 6 days. She also told me the hose idea was a bad one, as she could try to jump, and get hurt. She also said it would be unusual for a hawk to go after an 11 lb cat, they normally like to carry off their prey, we all no that is not always the case. As there are no kids in my neighborhood to speak of, I will just have to wait for the neighbors to get home, and try our pool net with a long pole. She of course also thought this was a bad idea as Kona will probably climb further up the tree....... The only good thing is I can see her from my office window while I'm on the computer........
