102 pounds! I almost flipped when it hit me the other day!!!! I am down 102 pounds! I am now 165 pounds! I was 267! Thats 102 pounds! I just can't stop saying it!!!! I've lost way more than my 6th grader weighs! lol I've lost a small person! How crazy is that! If I get my butt up and exercise I'd be way thinner by now... but whatever... I'm getting there... :p I'm just amazed to have gotten this far! So... I think for 2007, I will get rid of the last bit... my goal is..... hmmmm what is my goal??? I'm 5 ft 7... turns out I'm a med build.. Not big boned like I kept telling myself! lol and... I think I'd like to be... OH! 143!!!! Thats what my drivers license always said! lol I got pulled over once when I was heavier and the cop looked at my license and then at me and his face said "yeah right honey... keep dreaming!" lol So 143 it is!!! that means... I need to lose another... OMGosh! only 22lbs! I can soooo do that!!!! Do ya all think 143 is a good weight for a 5 ft 7 in tall person?? Most of my weight is in my boobs! Can't lose that! I wish! They're heck on the shoulders and back! lol |
congrats girl !! i know you can do it !! |
Congratulations, Kathryn! That is amazing. How are you doing it? Is there a particular diet or just less and smarter? My New Year's resolution is to lose weight. Here it is New Year's day and there is still candy, cookies, and egg nog left in the house! :( I decided to start in earnest after my son goes back to school and the routine returns to normal. If I have to toss the chocolate, so be it. |
Congratulations! I'm sure you can lose the last 22lbs! Can I ask how you lost the weight and how long it took you to lose it? |
Congrats! You can lose the last 22 lbs. in no time. I wish I could lose about 30lbs. Unfortuantly nothing seems to work for me. Keep up the good work! |
Wow! That is great! I remember your "before" pictures - whoa! You have come along way baby! hee, hee! That is sooooooo great! Keep it up, you can do it! Are you still strict into the raw diet? |
Many congrats to you girl!!!! If you've come that far, another 22 will be a piece of cake!!! |
HOLY COW !! That's a whole person girl !!! makes me feel like such a loser that I can't lose this 15 lbs and get into my smaller clothes:( GOOD FOR YOU - I bet you feel like a million bucks ! |
Congratulations!!! |
Well... it took about.... I guess its been about 10 months now... about??? but I quit losing 3 months ago... I'm still taking it off painfully slow now, but before It was flying off! The difference.. I was raw... but a few months ago I came home from the hosp. and after not having access to raw food was eating the SAD (Standard American Diet) I still do Zero Dairy and no red meats, no breads, pasta potatoes... mainly chicken sushi and fruits and veggies, lots of veggies! I do eat out and do crappy foods more often than I'd like to admit... before that was totally not an option!!!! I plan on cutting out 99% of the cooked foods and going back to my raw ways. I felt so much better!!! Now I have upset stomach and bloating, I get cramps have issues with certian foods... we all have certian foods that just don't "agree" with us... Well on a raw diet... Nothing affected me like that... I could eat and never worry about how something was going to sit! it was awesome! And the weight just flew! Hubby lost 20 pounds just eating raw for two meals a day the first two months. he was floored! its a great lifestyle if you really enjoy food... If you just inhale your food and move on... you could be eating carpet fibers like Chynna and be happy! lol Raw food is an art really... Its easy to get hooked! One of my favorites is making Nut Milks! I wish I could send you all a glass of Chocolate milk! I make the best Chocolate milk!!! RAW! From fresh ground Cacao nibs (thats Chocolate in its raw form) and fresh made almond milk and agave nectar. It tastes better than Hershy's! It takes me about 30 minutes to make a gallon of it... but my family LOVES IT! its the best treat and they know the love that goes into it... so its a treat that they truly cherish! There is so much to raw... Its not just carrot sticks! |
Kathryn, that's unbelievable! Congratulations and keep up the good work. Carol & Buddy |
I wish I could find more on the raw diet. It sounds so great! Maybe that would help me lose this extra 30lbs. I just don't have a clue where to start. |

I wish so much that I can try the raw diet........I checked out the rawvolution book (I think that was the name) and it seemed interesting. Plus, you are living proof! BUUUUUUUUUT!!! It would be hard for me for several reasons 1.) have to cook another meal for my DH and daughter - he is STRICTLY meat and potatoes - no budging him! 2.) not much selection of good raw foods around here - the health food stores does have a good variety of things, but boy, they are proud of some of it aren't they? 3.) regarding #1 - TIME! Who has the time to cook for one and then turn around and have to make my own, then clean up from both of them! Whoa! The "nut shake" sounds interesting! But yummmy!!!! I am almost to the point where I might just call my doctor and get that Merida prescription!!!! I know that over the summer, when I was really hard at my weight loss, I would get sick at my stomach if I ate something that I knew wasn't good for me. I don't know if it was all in my head or if my body was just letting me know that that food wasn't good for me. I wish I would get that back! Boy, I need that again! |
I had a super hard time too... there is not alot out there.... I started out with a book called Rawvolution by matt amsden. then I just started scouring the internet and found a couple of small web boards like this... and went blindly into it! I caught ALOT of flack from nay sayers who said it was unhealthy and that I would never get enough protein blablabla.... Well take a look at gorillas. They are doing just fine on their raw diet and I don't see them dropping dead from protein deficiencies.... do you?? in fact... have you ever known any one who has died from a lack of protein??? hmmm... I will say that my weakness is sushi.... so I'm 95% raw... I do go for sushi and there is cooked rice and the eel is cooked and the edemame is steamed... so when I go for sushi I eat some cooked foods.... I don't believe in 100% deprivation!!! If you try to go "all in" you'll fail! I say just do as much as you can... some change is better than none! Thats what I did, and eventually it just took over! lol |

Just cut out as much of the processed crap as you can!!! And stick to as much whole foods as possable! You'd be a thousand times ahead of the croud! |
I remember reading you used the raw diet now! Where is my memory? I knew another lady that lost quite a lot eating raw. She also kept it off and is in competitive karate now! I may have to look into that a bit more seriously. I am dusting off my weight watcher's stuff right now and going back to the points. But I am sure I can incorporate a little more raw foods. |

So true! I think I am going to "try" to change alittle! --more raw! Do you use anything special - equipment wise, supplements, etc? There is the new Jack LaLanne's blender maching (like $150) that is all for raw foods.......have you checked that out? |
Great Job you almost lost a whole me! lol haha! im 5'6 and 105. You can do it !!! Good luck |
Congratulations Kat, way to go you will be looking quite svelt at 143! Jen, are we married to the same guy? I couldn't believe it when I read your post! |

Awhile back, I cooked some acorn and some butternut squash - I even made them "unhealthy" by doctoring them up for him w/ butter and such - he did NOT want to try them......so I guess I nagged enough he tried it, about died (his words) and then somthered them under ketchup to eat them! What a baby! He grow up in a meat/potato household - never eating anything "healthy" or "green" - except for green beans! So, yeah, I have a hard time dieting in my house!!! Kathryn - thanks for all your advice! |
Big pat on the back and an "atta girl" Kathryn! Thats amazing! Before I started reading your post, I honestly thought maybe you had the stomach operation. I was really shocked you did it with diet! I'd never heard of this diet till now. I put on 30 lbs after leaving work in 04, and can't get that off! I suppose I'm not a good person when it comes to diet. I was always slim, till the past 2 years. And hitting 50 this year doesn't seem to be helping things at all either. Anyone who can stick to a diet long enough to loose that much weight deserves a metal! |
Congrats!!!!!!! WOW :D :D You can do it....:D :D |
You should be very proud of yourself..:congrats:.. That is amazing..:cheer:....Way to go girl....:bravo: |
You go girl! That is fantastic! |
Congratulations!!! I'm going to research this raw diet and see if we can do more raw. We don't do sushi, so would probably still have to cook the meats. |
lol.... its funny the foods I kept are still somewhat "raw" lol sushi and the raw fish! lol Too funny! But Hubby kept his fast food lunches and still lost a ton! He just made better choices for his fast food... he stuck to chicken, cut out cheese, pulled of the top buns... its amazing how quickly he lost weight! but he still ate at burger king and mcdonalds  fast food junkie he is... but in the end he totally cut it out cause it just was not what he even wanted... raw tasted better than any other foods and after a while he was like 90% raw... As far as special tools... a good knife or two, my cuisineart, and a POWERFUL blender! I have a Vitamix! I live in that blender! It was seriously a whole car payment.... but well worth it! I got to split it up into 3 payments on my card. its the best investment I ever made and I use it in 98% of the meals I make! Even salads... I whip up dressings in it! Fresh ginger dressings! Or sundried tomato dressing! I can even make a ranch dressing with cashew nuts! It tastes awesome! Brian makes the best salads! And I have to do a chop salad since I have braces... I can't do large hunks of veggies... Do I take my salad veggies and toss them in the food processer and chop them up. And if you want to boost your weight loss... if your a fan of atkins you can cook up some egg whites and chop them up and add them to your salads... thats a major boost! I don't do it... But I know alot of semi-raw foodists who do... Anyway.... My wedding anni is on April 20th so I would like to meet my goal by then! I know I can do it! I'm so back on the wagon! i was talking with hubby about it! I left my 3 black eyed peas on the plate today... the last of my cooked junky meals.... I'm back to wholesome foods! Wish me luck everyone! :D K |
Wow, seriously that is wonderful!!! When you reach your goal, you should post before and after pictures :). You could even send them in to those womens' magazines like Fitness, Shape, OXygen, etc. Isn't it amazing being able to transform your body like that? You take your mind & body to levels you didn't even know you could achieve. I think I speak for all of us when I say you're an inspiration and you definitely motivate me to keep going on my weight loss goals! I know you'll shed those last lbs easily! |
