Sheer Cover & Bare Minerals Make-Up Okay, I know there have been posts on this (both of these) before and I have read them all............ I have a Sephora near me, so I plan on going there to get some Bare Minerals stuff............... BUT.............. I was at Bed, Bath & Beyond today and they had a lot of "as seen on tv" stuff and guess what they had.......they had Sheer Cover...... So, okay I bought some........I think it was $30 (but can't remember the exact amount) for a box that came w/ 3or4 foundation powders, the finishing power, two concealors, make up pad and brush....didn't open it all the way, so I haven't really checked it out to see what was all in there. Could someone give me an idea of how much the Bare Minerals is and do you have to buy everything seperately.... I guess I am looking for pros/cons on each product......I know everyone has raved about Bare Minerals, but I just had to try to Sheer Cover too. I am goin to use it on Thanksgiving to see if anyone notices any difference. (I normally do not wear makeup, but a few basics). |
i dont wear makeup but thought id reply! LOL |
It sounds like you got a deal to me - the Bare Minerals Veil is $25 ALONE at Ulta - that doesn't include the brush or powder - I think you did good girl - I bet you love what you bought - I really do like the Bare Minerals line and heard that what you're using is very close to the same thing - |
Best thing to do is check our thier site for prices. I have never tried it but I just can't imagine it having the coverage that I want. http://www.sephora.com/browse/brand_...e%20essentials |
Thanks! Duh!! I didn't think to check out sephora online to see! Where is my mind???!!! I like the thought too....that at Sephora, I am sure I can try before I buy.....although, I hate using the stores makeup samples YUCK...that kind of grosses me out! I have heard such great things about Bare Minerals, but you know me, I can't pass up a deal.....and I thought that was a good price, but just didn't know (plus, I didn't have to pay shipping or wait for it to come in or join a club, etc). I am lucky to walk out the door w/ some eyeliner and blush on....so this is a big step for me! HA! BTW....Kristy.....you are crazy! hee,hee |
Just checked......Sephora has get started kits for Bare Minerals.......$60 http://www.sephora.com/browse/produc...houldPaginate= This is the right stuff, right Villette?? |
Did you know, that you can buy Sephora products at JC Penney?? I have been on http://www.jcp.com doing some holiday shopping and seen the Sephora tab among all of their other tabs. WOW! I never thought to look for Bare Minerals at JC Penney!!! |
I got a starter kit of Bare Minerals for $59.99 , The kit comes with several brushes which alone are worth alot, mosturizer, foundation, natural veil, and several others. A great kit for the price. I am not big on foundations this feels like your wearing nothing. I use it when I am going out normally I wear just blush and eyemake up. This kit comes with a dvd to tell you how to apply. I do use there products I like there lipstick and eye shadows. Btw I purchased my at Ulta they have great stuff.. |

I don't have an Ulta store around here......I can search online though.....are the prices about the same? |
Well, how did it work out for you? Did anyone notice a difference today? |
I use bare essentials and I bought the start up kit for about 60.00 and then I bought whatever I needed separately there after. I LOVE IT. I have ALOT of acne and I don't feel comfortable leaving my house without make up and I use bare essentials...it really works wonders. I also use a cargo concealer as a base for the really bad flaws. Also available at sephora. |
ok..... You know I'm gonna really post when I start it with ok.... lol I have got to tell you... I have been using Bare Minerals for over 5 years now, and I would not use any thing else!!!! My girlfriend, you know the one.... the one who always gets the better prices and deals on EVERYTHING!!!!, decided that she was going to "one up" me on my make up and go sheer cover and ordered it off of the tv... She knew that I had literally hundreds, well.. many many many hundreds! We are in the thousands now:rolleyes:..... invested in my collection.... So I asked her to come over with her stuff cause I was really excited to see how it compared! Well, lets just say that I was really nervous that I was going to look like a total ass for having spent so much over the years on my makeup and here my "friend" had gone and gotten the "better deal" once again! I can't tell you how hard it was for me to hide my ear to ear grin :D when I played with her stuff and really got to feel good about the quality of mine! Bare minerals have the BEST BRUSHES! I am still using brushes I have that are 5 years old! And my amazing new ones!!! I have over 20 different brushes! And I have dozens of shadows, face colors, blushers, liner shadows, glimpses, and other goodies! And any time they put out an eye shadow trio... Grab it!!!! I love the Tahitian Sunrise, and Meet the Browns! And the Metallics are awesome too! And if you want a brown that has the best shimmer to it without making you look like your going clubbing! lol try Coconut Palm!!! Its one of My fave's!!!! And for a great Cheek and eye color... True is an all time winner!!! I have them all, I have the mascara, the lips, the this, the that... you name it!!!! Do not waste your time with the eyeliner sealer stuff, I have it.... no so great.... And the powder compacts... not their best idea... I have a couple if anyone really wants to try them out! lol I'm not a fan! :thumbdown The come in the kits.... I buy EVERY kit that comes out when I can... its a great way to build your color and brush collection.... and if you get doubles of something... trade with a friend or sell it on ebay and buy something else! you can get lots of Bare Minerals New and Unopened on ebay.... So have I ranted enough???? I swear I'd have twice the posts by now if I could keep them short and sweet! lol Never!!! ;) |
As always, Kathryn, you are awesome....you should sale this stuff and do demos on it.....she knows her stuff! I am definitely getting the Bare Minerals stuff at Sephora this weekend! I tried the Sheer Cover - what I bought at Bed,Bath & Beyond, and no one noticed or said anything.....my complexion, overall face, isn't bad, so I didn't need to cover too many things, but again, no one said anything.....not even my husband or daughter. So, either people just don't notice things or I don't need it or something......who knows. Thanks again......... |
Well... One thing I will tell you is..... The best thing about wearing Bare Minerals is that you won't look like your wearing foundation or makeup period! The make up that will be noticeable will be the eye shadows if you pick "colors" otherwise you can go with natural contouring colors that will bring out the natural beauty of your face and eyes! You'd be amazed at what you can do with some simple shading! And the soft focus trio is AMAZING for this! It will also redefine your cheeks and jaw line! Their blush minerals without shimmer in them look so natural you'll look like a blushing bride! Like your the happiest person in the room! If you use a rose or pink shade like glee or some of the lighter pinks, or if you use warmth, a tiny bit! you will look sun kissed! like you spent the weekend in the garden or sitting by the pool, but did not fry like most of us do! lol And the liner shadows!!! I used to wear them wet, and still do sometimes for the rare hussy night out once a year! lol but applied dry at the base of your lash line.... gives you that "eyes wide open look" that we all want! And top that with a quick sweep of their Big Tease mascara!!! A BIG FAVE!!! Its the best Mascara I have used in a LONG time! and the brush is Awesome!!! I've found that with the liner shadow, there is no need to torture myself with the eye lash curler, cause the added volume it gives me at my lash base is more than enough!!! So I totally skip it now and my eyes still look amazing and I am saving my eyes from major premature wrinkling! Something that at 31 I am seriously getting worried about now! (I know.... 31 and worried about wrinkles... Hey! I want cheese to go with my whine!!!! I am all about prevention!!! Once they set in, there is no getting rid of them!!! And I am not inviting them in any earlier than I have to!!! lol) And if you are wondering in the back of your mind if you can really sleep in them???? YES!!! I have been breaking out like mad cause I just spent 5 days in the hospital after my car accident and was not following my normal face care and was on some serious pain meds for the abdominal bruising and the aches and pains... it sucked. Your face is the first place to show stress!!! So I was looking like BLAH! for thanksgiving!!! I totally covered EVERYTHING! And was totally busted when I got home! I flopped into bed, so we got up late and had to run out the door to go pick my step son and I was like.... woah... no time to shower! But my face looked awesome! lol I just touched up under my eyes cause I had a bit of mascara transfer, but a tissue took care of that... and I was out the door! NO oil! NO redness! NO irritation! Nothing! I looked totally amazing! I was like one of those Daytime drama actresses who rolls out of bed looking perfect! lol Ok.... I have got to stop.... my minerals rock! End of story! lol |
I use it too:p It is the greatest!! I loved Kathryn's rant..all the things I would have said. It also has SPF of 15 in it. Although if I'm out in the sun for long periods of time I use sunscreen. My skin has really cleared up using this. I carry the mineral veil in my purse sometimes to cut the shinny look. When I bought it the girl said the only people that seem to return it are people with a lot of wrinkles and really dry skin. I'm over 40 and have tried ALOT of makeups in my day and this is by far the best:thumbup:  |
YES!!! How did I not mention the SPF??? Need I say more??? Well, no, but you know I will!!!! If I forgo the Minerals and spend the day without it running around... I will get some "sun".... But the SPF of the Minerals is REAL!!! It does protect!! I really do rely on it! I can do long days at open malls and what not, and I don't burn at all... My arms or chest will if I'm not careful! But my face wont... 15 is not super coverage but its enough for most peoples daily average exposure... Oh, and another great place to catch the kits is QVC! I have not ordered them from QVC yet, I never seem to be watching at the right times, but I hear you can do it online??? I have not caught the QVC bug yet, God help my husband if I ever do!!! Thank God I can't afford to right now!!! lol But I know many gals who are all about it!!! And they say that they have great exclusive kits for Bare Minerals. Anyway... there I went again! lol Yes.... SPF! lol:rolleyes: |
About the wrinkles - you can use Bare Minerals with wrinkles, just apply it with a sponge, rather than with the brushes. Some use a slightly damp sponge. My mom is 85 and she wears it every day and has for about 10 years now. She has lots and lots of wrinkles and people always tell her how pretty her skin is - it's nothing but the Bare Minerals. Just the other day, someone that I looked very pretty with the suntan on my face - I'm NEVER out in the sun without Bare Minerals and I do not have a suntan - it was the Warmth applied over the foundation. I just smiled and said, "thanks!". For those of you who live in HOT climates - it will not melt off your face and it won't make you hot. I used to put on liquid foundation, go outside in the Texas summer, and feel like my face was 10 times hotter than the rest of me - it was due to the heavy, liquid foundation. You don't feel the Bare Minerals AT ALL - that is a BIG plus for me because I hate the feeling of my makeup melting off. I will echo everything that Kathryn said - Bare Minerals is the absolute BEST! I too, have spent lots of money on this makeup, but it was worth every penny AND it lasts FOREVER!!! |
Thanks everyone! I am really pumped about getting it and trying it! I may just give the Sheer Cover to my daughter to play around w/.......she definitely doesn't need make-up, but what else can I do?! HA! |
I am a HUGE BE addict. I just started wearing it this summer and I love it! I can't stand the feel of make-up on my face so I am so pleased with BE. The intro kit is an awesome deal... you save so much and get brushes with it. I think I've bought everything from them except for lipstick and blush. While the make up seems expensive, it lasts forever. I've been using my makeup 7 days a week for 3 or 4 months and the make-up jars don't look like I've even touched them- they're still nearly full. Because you use so little product at a time, it lasts quite a while. |

GREAT STUFF!!! I bought a WHOLE BIG SUPPLY here: http://stores.ebay.com/I-Heard-It-From-A-Little-Birdy The prices seem to be good. It is BRAND NEW and EXCELLENT SHIPPING CONDITIONS... I just bought about 10 things and they are wonderful! I highly recommend this seller! :) |
Ohhhhhhhhh....thanks.......gonna check that out! |
FYI...on the Ulta website today they have the BE starter kit for $60.00....a $165.00 value. May be worth checking into. |
I'm curious about this now. Is the foundation a powder? How do you apply it? Is it full coverage? Thanks! |

It is so light and beautiful. It gives your skin the most beautiful glow. The best thing for me is that it is not hot, and it doesn't sweat off. I cannot recommend Bare Minerals highly enough. I will NEVER use any other makeup, EVER!!!!! |

I've been using bare escentiuals for.....gosh........YEARS! I think over 10 maybe? I won't use anything else on my face. I only hate that the brushes are so expensive! |
Thats why I buy the kits whenever I can... And YES!!! Another name I am all about! Arbonne!!! I have been using that for 2 1/2 years now! And I won't put anything else on my face as far as skin care! lol Its the best! Keep it up! Its well worth it!! Stay away from Mineral oil for your face! Stck with the RE9! Its done wonders for me!!! I don't sell it, I'm a rep, but just so I can get the discount... And their RE9 for the body id equally as amazing!!!! try it if you don't have it already! |
Do you know if I can get a sample of it somewhere? Now I'm dying to try it!! |
