They've talked about this for a long time but nothing gets done. I have several members of my family that are or were in the service and I couldn't be more proud! |
you should be proud...:) :) |
i respect all members of the service. it would be sad to have a draft. anything is possible with the a$$ we have as a president. |
I am also proud of all those who are or were in the military The ones who choose to be there and did not have to be there. Thats terrible to be made to do some thing you don't want to. And if you dodge the draft people look down on you. Sorry there are so many that want and choose to inlist on there own. We don't need the Draft. |

Why must people resort to namecalling, like 5 year olds, when it comes to politics? |

i just get so wound up about the war and these poor troops getting killed and injured. it seems so senseless. i'm very conservative , but this war seems out of control and unneccessary. to me drafting puts more americans in harms way. let's see if bush would send his daughters over there in a draft. |

sorry but its not all bush..try the democrat trying to bring the draft back..cant blame Bush for everything! |

I think this is America and we need to respect our president regardless. I think no matter who you have in office, they will do something that someone doesnt like...that is life. I dont agree with everything Bush does, but I didnt agree with everything Clinton did either(neither did his wife. lol) I respect everyone that is in the military because I personally know that is something that I could not do. To be real honest, I'd be scared to death. |
I agree. I would never publically speak badly about ANY presidant. I don't care if he turned out to make a lot of bad decisions. I really don't. That's wrong. He's our president respect it. deal. I have to be honest, I know a LOT of people in the service (a ton of guys on our street are in the military) and they would be hurt to hear you say that you don't want them there... they are proud of it. They are proud taht they are serving our country. and I'm proud of them. I would rather not have a draft either, but if it gets down to it... and it's our last resort and no one is enlisting... what can we do? |

I truely hope this doesn't happen. We appreciate all our men and women serving in the armed forces and our thoughts and prayers go out to each of them and their families, the sacrifices they make are so many. We are so blessed to live in a nation where those that are serving are because they want to, their dedication is much to be honored. I don't neccessarily go along with a lot that goes on through out the world in our being there, but who am I to really know the why's and so there fore I respect our President and ask the Lord above to guide him in his decisions as well as the others that are elected into government. I also ask God's guidance when I go to the poll's to vote so that I may do so wisely. There has been times during a shopping or about in the stores that I have come in contact with someone serving in the armed forces ( the latest being while I was shopping in Lowe's) I ask if I can give them a hug and tell them it is for each of those serving. God Bless each and all of our service families, I pray that the draft does not go into effect, and we remain a volunteer armed forces. Patti |
Since no else bothered to mention it the reasoning behind the draft is that since most of the people who serve the front lines of the military happen to come from disadvantaged backgrounds, the draft would force all people regardless of background to be subject to service in the armed forces. It's being used as a way to deter further action in Iraq because it would make politicians think harder about what causes to support if most of their constituents have their children or family members in war. |

QUOTE] We sadly attended two military funerals this past year of young men killed in Iraq. They both were college grads and left very good paying jobs to go into the service because it was their belief that they were doing something to better help people in another country, knowing that they would be eventually sent to Iraq. They volunteered to join, in my opinion anyplace in Iraq is on the front lines. In my opinion a voluntary military is much much better than the draft, even those that have joined the military from disadvantaged backgrounds is through their own choice, no matter what walk of life a person is they are to be commended for volunteering to join the military. cekaai, good point. my son is in the military, last year at this time he was in Iraq. he came home with ptss and blood clots in both his legs, had 2 surgeries already and still has blood clots, :( and still he says he wants to go back...... we are "VERY PROUD" of him and all our military. maybe with a draft our soldiers wouldnt have to stay away from home for so long at a time, if they had alot more to send and share the "time away" ....I dont know...I just know 14 months is a long time for them to be away from family:usaheart: |

My brother wants to join. He's going to be 16 in 2 weeks. Yeah, I'm freaked. If the draft ends up going through, I'll be VERY freaked. I have an incredible amount of respect for the troops in service (and those who have served in the past), but the reason my respect for them is SO high is because I know I could NEVER do what they're doing/did. That's just not something I could do. and if I (or someone I loved) were forced to do that, it would tear me apart. |

Remember that Congress obviously thought troops needed to go to Iraq as badly as Bush thought they needed to. No President can send troops to war without Congress's approval. A majority of the Congress voted on war, so here we are. It's not all Bush's fault, as much as the Dems would like to think. |
A Man in Need Try to imagine yourself in this man's shoes, being verbally assaulted with hatred and venom on a daily basis at his job. Try to imagine if you did the very best you knew how to do, and STILL, you were despised and hated without reason. How would you feel? How would you be able to function on a daily basis at your job? How would you feel every time you went out in public, knowing that people despised you and there was nothing you could do to change their minds? http://www.udata.com/users/byrd/pray.htm |

Yes. That is true. But that doesn't mean we should support him and/or pray for him. |
I really doubt they would bring back the draft |
