I think all the leaders should just grow up and stop all the wars..I mean seriously..they teach us not to fight and then they encourage people to go fight in war.:confused: Those new video games that came out "call of duty" its all about fighting in a war...i'm sure that'll teach kids to be more civilized.

In all honesty, I think that this will not pass. To pass, it would have to get through both Houses, which is not going to happen if anyone wants to get re-elected anytime soon.

Well, I hope they don't . I couldn't see my husband and Brother in law gone from home. He is my world as is my sisters to her. They don not want to join the service...they don't disrespect those who do...but they are interested. I have seen wives who lost their husbands, kids who lost their fathers, mothers and fathers who lost sons...I don't want to go through that. God knows I am not strong enough...


I pray it doesn't pass. The news hasn't helped the military any...I mean everyday you hear of soldiers dying...I am sure it has scared some out of their decision.

They won't need the draft as long as there are brave young people out there willing to enlist.

i respect everyone in the military because i sure wouldn't be able to do it. I would leave the country also. Or if I did go I would be like a nurse or something.

I do not think they need it......I think the war over there will come to an end, soon.

I know when my 17 year old cousin joined, they really talked it up to those young men and women...telling them all the benefits they will get, that they will be retired and living care free at the age of 30, that they will get all this money every month........course, none of this has happened yet and more than likely won't.........anyway, those recruiters really get those kids pumped up about joining.

Does my cousin regret joining? Nope......he comes from a long line of family members who have fought in the wars going waaayyyy back. He was alittle disappointed in not getting a lot of what was said to be for him, but that is w/ anything......people make it sound good to get you there and then you find it, it wasn't what you thought.

He actually loved all the camps we has gone too.......course, he is a "cocky" young man! HA! And he is proud of his country and being able to serve it.

Regarding most of those on the frontline being from disadvantage backgrounds....in our own experience, that is totally not true and pretty much the opposite! All the young men and women that has been w/ my cousin were all from good backgrounds, some in college, some attending to help w/ college, etc. In any branch of the military, you get all walks of life that join and for all different reasons.

We support our troops, even if we do not support the war.

I truly hope your are right !! As the mother of 2 sons the word "draft" scares me to death, especially since I remember well the last draft we had.

do you think we will ever see world peace? it's so sad that wars are going on. :( all that money being spent would really help the poor and suffering around the world.

My husband and I are both retired Navy and the oldest of my 3 sons is in the Navy now. I loved my time in and the benefits have been wonderful.....but, a war time draft would scare me too. I try to be supportive of the nation\'s policies but it is hard to see the sense in letting our young people get killed without any obvious progress. I understand sacrifice but I am not seeing the end benefit, the higher objective.... I won\'t bad mouth what I do not fully understand.... but on the other hand, I cannot speak in favor of it either. I will remember all of our service people AND those in public office in my prayers.

I fervently hope the draft measure goes nowhere but more than that, I hope the current conflicts are brought to an end with at least some progress towards a more peaceful and less dangerous area of the world!
