I didn't want our kids to think they got whatever they wanted just for being good, because what happened if one year we couldn't get everything they asked for??? Then they would think they weren't good enough. I always thought I wouldn't do SC like my mom did, but when I got married my husband said SC is the fun part of Christmas. So we compromised.
We told our kids that the presents they get aren't based on good/bad behavior, but based on SC's price list. Every year, Santa sends mommy and daddy a catalog with a detailed price list. The kids tell us what they would like to have, and we consult the price list to see if we can afford it. Sometimes we pay Santa early and he delivers them earlier than Dec 24, cuz how else can he get the presents delivered all over the world?? We told them they arrive unwrapped so we can be sure the right gifts arrived LOL We also told them that when Santa comes on Dec 24 we pay COD. LOLOL So far so good, and the kids still enjoy the SC tradition. | Love your idea...it is so heartbreaking to find out there isnt a Santa when your a kid...but even MORE heartbreaking to watch your kids find out there isnt a santa...my last child is 9 and on the verge of finding out...breaks my heart in two :( but the years that you do think santa is real are really magical years....a memory no one can ever take from you..
