They saw their big xmas present!!!! My kids saw their special christmas present already. They weren't getting a lot because this one thing that they really really wanted was so expensive. We were just going to get them this one big thing and then like two small things from santa. The suprise is totally ruined! I'm so disappointed about it!:( |
Oh No :( Was it an accident? |
whatcha get them? |
awww I'm sorry. But that does bring back memories to when I was little and I would look all around the house and find the presents my mom got me. I still do it lol What did you get them tho? |
HoW old are they? Were they snooping or just an accident? What did you get them/ |
Aw, that sucks. The best part is in the surprise. :( Were they excited at least? The worst ruined Christmas surprise in our house was one year my parents were surprising us with a trip to Disney World (the one and only trip we EVER took as a family). Well, didn't the travel agent call one day, I answered the phone, and she told me to tell my mom that the plane tickets to Florida were ready for pick up! Even though we knew what our present was going to be, we were still very excited. If it's something they really want, they won't care. Put it this way...at least now they don't have to worry that they won't get it! |
We got them a 4 wheeler. We saved every dime we could scrape up this year to get this. My oldest has wanted this for like 3 years. It's all he's ever talked about. I just knew they were going to be so suprised and excited because we always tell him we can't afford it. They saw it in the shed, they never go in the shed because it has spiders LOL Anyway, my youngest went in there for some strange reason and came running in the house yelling at us. DO we let them have it now or make them wait? |
this reminds me of when I was a kid, my parents would leave and my brother and I would very carefully unwrap are gifts and see what we got LOL they never knew this till we were older and confesed to them! KIDS! |
Tell them it's for someone else !!! lol - think you're feeling sad now ...wait till they hear THAT !! :D :D I'm sorry they saw it - I know the fun is seeing their faces on Christmas morning... |
Did you tell them it was for them? I would have said oh thats cousin bob's or we are holding that here for a suprise from a family friend to their son or daughter since they dont have the room to hide it at their house.....but if they do know its for them....make em wait!!! It will give them something to look forward to. Dawn |
Good plan V Tell them you are keeping it for a friend. they might not believe you, but they will be more surprised. |
removed...I clicked one too many times and reposted the same thing. :p |
YEP! I'd LIE and tell them it's not for them! Unless, of course you've already let them know it is after the little one came running in the house. Then suprise them w/ the truth on Christmas. In fact, maybe even remove it from the garage and ask a neighbor to hold it for you until that day so it's more believeable! -?- lol, have fun w/ it, don't stress yourself! ;) It's best to wait, I think-whether they know it's really for them or not. The next gift(s) you should be getting are the helmets; goggles and pads!! (I own a 4 wheeler myself and it's no fun when you fall if you're not properly equipped!) The best place to get your helmet and goggles would certainly be on-line, I bought mine from E-Bay!! |
To go off what V is saying, tell them that you are holding it for the parents of the neighbors kids or something like that |

See what a good sensible parent you will be! |
Oh yeah, they KNOW it's for them! It's blue, and the one they wanted, it doesn't matter what I say. LOL All their cousins have one, so there's no holding for anybody that doesn't already have one. They talk about wanting one almost every day. Now that they know there is one in the shed, I just don't know if I can hold out. They are off school the next 5 weeks, the begging has already begun. LOL |
Jeanie K- ROFL, I hope you were serious on that! ;) I LOVE keeping things a suprise. I suprise everyone I know w/ gifts, it brings me such joy to do! And if the gig is up, I always manage to find a way around it. Make them doubt again and then- BAM...they love it almost as much as I do as long as it's tastefully done. Also, giving gifts at unexpected times. Not waiting 'till a birthday or holiday to give a gift is something I truely enjoy. The only people I wasn't going to suprise were my parents regarding the pregnancy. I called my mom and dad the day I found out while I was still in Arizona. |

There off school for 5 WEEKS NOW? Good Lord!! Its not even Christmas break.Whats the deal? |
Tell them they can't ride it until they've got the proper gear! See what they say then...maybe you'll be able to afford those things by the time Chirstmas comes around? Seriously, the helmets and goggles if nothing else. And for pads, just get knee pucks from your local sports store and the same w/ the gloves. I used my motorcycle gloves that I ride my sportsbike w/. I think a set (helmet and goggles) cost $89.99 on E-bay and that was the "Buy it Now" price. If you could, I'd go to the store that you bought the 4-wheeler from and start fitting them w/ helmets and find out what size they are and brand and then go shopping on e-bay. Just my two cents. It's great you were able to get them the four wheeler! I'm sure you're proud of yourself...how exciting!!! :D |
They do have a helmet already and some hand me down things from their cousins. My brothers and my husband and a lot of the kids in the family are very active in riding so we're good on most those things. But I think I'll get them some sort of cool riding shirt, they'll like that. |
My kids go year around here. Lots of California schools do, is that not common everywhere else? We have four "tracks" that have different months off and on from attending school. My kids' last day is monday and then they go back on January 3. Three other tracks are still in school at this time. |

Hi Jodi, I am sorry that your kids found their present. I really truly know the feeling. Try not to be too terribly disappointed though just make the most of it. Be creative and turn the next five weeks into a "non" stop Christmas season of lots of family time on the 4- wheeler. Your entire family will make so many lasting memories -- instead of having only the week AFTER Christmas to enjoy the 4-wheeler, they will have 5 weeks. You can preserve Santa Clause, you know, that dude is terribly overworked and sometimes he just needs a little helping hand from Mom's and Dads when really BIG presents are involved. |

Give it to them now!:D The surprise isn't ruined. The surprise just came early. |
LOL! We did that to my God daughter, Jessie, when she was about 3. We were wrapping her presents and kept telling her they were for my niece, Elizabeth. So, on Christmas morning when Jessie unwrapped her presents she'd step back, shake her head no, point to the present and say 'no, that's for Bizbeth!' We had a hard time convincing her they were really hers! I say lie to them and make them wait...it serves them right for snooping and next time...post a bigger spider at the shed door! ;) Quote:

We were not going to give credit to Santa for the 4 wheeler, we worked too hard saving for this thing. LOL Besides we don't want to encourage them asking Santa for something as expensive next year! LOL Santa is giving them each a playstation game that they really want and maybe another cheap thing or two. My oldest is on the cuff of believing in santa anyway. He wanted to know if there really was a santa, why are there so many people hungry and without homes. And why are we donating a toy to the salvation army for a child who may not receive any, won't santa give them one? |
Here in Kansas we start around aug 26th and get out May 24 -25...only get 3 days off for thanksgiving and than theyll get like a 1.5 week for Christmas break! |
