A visit from beyond Have you ever experienced something that has made you stop and think, Maybe that was a loved one passed on? Like a strange happening that you can't explain. Last weekend my son and family came to visit and we were all sitting around talking, reminsing about my Dad who passed this last New Years Day. :( Anyways I have a fireplace that is electric and can only be turned on by a remote. The remote was sitting on top of the entertainment center,it turned on for about 5 seconds then went off. We all just gasp and looked at each other ,looking around. It was really a wierd feeling.I really feel it was my Dad letting us know he is still with us. I thought this would be a good thread for us to share our strange happenings. |

I wasn't freaked at all, I actually felt a very strong sense of calmness. I have other things that have happened since losing my parents. One morning I was sitting on My patio having coffee, crying my eyes out over my Mom's recent passing. I said out loud I miss you Mom. Suddenly I felt someone blow on my neck really softly. I knew it was her. She died of lung cancer and I felt she was telling me that she could breath now. It is strange when something like this happens you know, you just know. |
i believe. |
This brings back memories My mom passed away Aug of 1998, not at home but all her 6 yrs that she was ill she lived with me and my partner of 18 yrs. Well, first of all the first month she was done we felt her in the apt. that whole month, but not in a bad way at all. The fist Monday back to work we went grocery shopping and I bought some candles with the saints on the tall glass, I put one in my moms bedroom and one in the living room. It was kinda late so I didn't want lite them for just 1 hr. The next day driving home my hubby called me and asked it I had lit the candle in my moms room that morning or at night, I said "No, not at all. Why?" He said that when he got home, he went into my mom's room to open the curtains ( she had this big window next to her bed ) and when he turned around to leave the candle was lit. He thought maybe I felt it on from the night before or lit it that morning. I said "Look at the candle does it look like it's been on all day or night" he said "No, just lit"....I asked "Are u scared?"..he said "No, why..she left in peace with everyone" .......I felt good he wasn't scare. Hubby is a teacher in a private school, in Sept school started. He told the story to two different Nun's and both said the same thing in a very happy tone " Oh, good that was a sign she was ok and she made it into heaven". Oct., I called one of the caregivers that cared for my mom for the last 2 yrs during the day while we were at work, just to say Hi and see how she was doing . She and her husband did care very much for my mom and where effected deeply by her death. I told Angelina about the candle and she took a deep sigh, I said "What, what happen?" she said "That was a sign for me, we promised each other that the first one to die would send the other one a sign by lighting a candle to let the other one know there is a heaven" Now that gave us the creeps...LOL Sorry the story was so long. |

thank you I just cried from each of your stories. I just had my daughter on the 4th. I know I will go someday and I hope that I can bring comfort to them like that when the time comes. It is true that they are always with you. |
About a year after my grandfather died, my hubby and I were taking a trip by place and I was nervous about leaving my kids and feeling very melancholy. We had taken off a few minutes earlier and were climbing through the clouds as I was thinking how much I missed my grandfather. As I gazed into the clouds, I heard his voice as clear as a bell tell me "Baby, I'm right here. Don't worry, everything will be fine". I felt so much love in my heart at that moment and the rest of the trip was relaxing and wonderful! |

Since our 26 year old son passed away last August we had something similiar happen. We have a fan in our living room that when the light switch is on can only be turned on and off only by remote. We hadn't been home no time when we would be watching tv and the light would come on and we keep the remote on the wall that's where it always is never anywhere else. My husband tried all the remotes in our house to see if one of they was also controlling the fan and none of them worked. Then he came up with the idea that someone in the neighborhood has a remote with the same frequency as ours. I told him that was impossible because these remotes don't work very far away and all of our neighbors are far enough away to where that would not work. We each have 1 acre lots. It still happens quite frequently, just yesterday the fan was going full force as I only run it on low and we never use the light on it. This happens too many times to count anymore. Now when it happens we just look at each other and one of us will get up and fix it. |
these stories make me cry.. i would love to hear more... i do believe in this. |
I got the chills from everyone stories, No, it doesn't freak ya at all, very, very comforting. Anyone elses? |
I love hearing all of your stories, and I love watching Ghost Whisperer because the stories are so heartwarming. So here's my story... My younger cousin was only 5 years old when her mother committed suice, with a butterknife. We were all very shocked and saddened because she had 2 old kids (teen and preteen). Years went by and we all moved on. My little cousin didn't find out till she was 16 that her mother committed suicide. They all told her she died from the cancer. She had so many different tumors and cancers at that time that it was unbelievable. Well they live in Australia. My cousin came down for a visit when she was 16, right after she had found out. We were sitting up and talking one night about everything, life, boys, school, and her mom. We had the light dimmed and were just talking quitely. I was asking her what she remembers about her mom. All of a sudden this big BRIGHT white light started shinning in the room and just moving around. I was freaked out but she was like that's her, that's my mom. She comes and visits me when I am in bed. To this day, I'm like did we make that up, did we dream that or was that real  |
When I was 23 years old I was engaged to a young man that I had been dating for four years. Tragically, he was killed at work one day when his surveyors pole touched a high tension wire. He was electrocuted and died instantly. I was devastated and my whole world came crashing down around me. I never thought that I'd recover from it all. I was just a mess. On the last day of the wake, just before they closed the coffin, the family let me be the last to say my good-byes. I stood by the coffin and had this warm feeling wash over my body....from head to toe. Almost like a warm rain. I heard the words 'everything's gonna be alright' so clearly. I was shocked and amazed that I'd heard that...it was just so clear and like he spoke it right into my ear. I truly do believe in 'the afterlife' I also participated in a seance a year or two later where I was told, via the medium, some information from my fiance that absolutely no one would know. It was truly amazing It took me about 5 years to grieve him. I never thought I'd love again, but I moved away from my home town and ended up falling in love with the most wonderful, kind man. We have two kids and I'm so blessed to have been given two chances at love. . |
My grandmother passed almost two years ago and she hides things from me!!! She was a handful while she was alive and loved to mess with us. My husband and I will search everywhere for something and then turn around and it will be right in front of our face. In the most obvious place. When it happens, this crazy feeling comes over me and I can almost hear her laughing. I just know it's her! I'm thankful to still have her around. |

val , you just touched my heart... |
I don't talk about that part of my life much so it's strange now, 23 years later, how I still remember it - feel it - like it was yesterday. I was such a different girl then....a lifetime ago. I'm glad to share it with you all. |
All of your stories are very touching and I believe all of them. One weekend my sister-in-law took and I took a ride to NC to visit my niece who was up for homecoming queen at her college. On the ride home we were listening to my son's music from his wedding the month before. It was an awsome band and we forgot about everything else getting lost in the wedding again. When we reached the Jersey turnpike her car started spitting and we pulled over and realized we never stopped for gas! We looked at each other in shock. What do we do now? I hung a red leg (from a pair of pants) out the window for help. No one stopped and of course a police car, after 1hr, never came in sight. It was starting to get dark. My sister in law stated that if her brother (my husband who passed away at 49) ever found out about this he would really call her stupid. He always teased her about being stupid. Of course she isn't, just a sister/brother thing. Well, anyhow, she said, John if you would just help me now I promise never to be stupid again. Oh my god, a few minutes later she turned the ingnition and the car started and we drove to the next exit paid a toll and the car died again. At least we were able to ask for help from the tool booth guy. I know this gave my husband a chuckle. We never told my brother in law, it has been our secret for the past 10yrs. Carol |
I haven't actually had "family" visit, but we really believe our home is haunted. The house was built in 1917, and it is very old fashioned still to this day. Anyhow...A week or so ago, I was awakened by a lady talking in my bedroom. First thing I thought, someone is outside the window, but at 3am, nobody needs to be in my yard! Anyhow...I cuddled up to hubby, said please let me go to sleep...and I did. The next night, we all went to bed, around the same time, something said "mommy"...I jumped up, and immediatly looked around to see if was my girls...nope! I was scared out of my mind! I started having an anxiety attack...so I woke my hubby up. We went into the living room and he got me some water. By then I was doing ok, so I told him what happened. He asked me to describe it. It sound just like I recorded a child talking, and pushed replay and then stopped it when it was through...static and all. I was so freaked...it didn't feel evil...but something is definitely here. I talked with my mother, who inturn talked to her boss, a pastor and he told me to sleep with a Bible under my pillow...I have and I haven't felt funny, or heard strange things. We really don't feel like the spirits are evil...but with some of the things that go on...we have begun to really question things. I wish I knew how to look back into the history of this house...but I am afraid of what I may find. Yes...I DFEINITLY believe in the after life! And I will never say I don't!!!!! |
About 13 years ago the light used to go on and off in my flat of its own accord, If id turned it off before i went out id come back in and it would be on and vice versa, bearing in mind i am quite a baby (scared of the dark, scary movies etc) but this didnt frightened me at all as i was convinced it was my cousin who had died several years earlier from leukimea (bad spelling) i used to chat to his mum (my auntie) about it all the time and she loved hear how i felt it was him. I told her she must come up to my flat and see for herself but as i lived 2 flights up with no lift and she has angina she didnt feel she would make the stairs so always declined. One day after another chat about it still happening she agreed to come, the whole time she was there the light flicked on and off, on and off, for over half an hour. We were quite at peace during this time and not at all frightened. I eventually took her home and ever since that day in the 7 years after that i lived there the light never went on or off of its own accord again. |
My grandma had stuff like this happening to her all the time in our old house.. Over a fairly short period of time, one of my uncles killed himself, then my other uncle died of cancer, and then my great grandmother died of a heart attack shortly afterwards. Well, some time after my uncle killed himself, my grandma dreamed that a big, black, dirty figure came through her window. She said she didn't feel threatened by it, but it seemed to be in a lot of pain. She couldn't see his face. When she woke up, her white curtains had a huge black circular stain on them. She could not get it out, even with bleach and repeatedly washing and washing...she swears it was my uncle. After my other uncle died from cancer, the bedroom lamp in her room kept turning itself on at night. She felt this was my uncle doing it. One night, she dreamt about her mother. In her dream, somebody had died. She asked her mom "mom, who died?" " she replied 'you're going to be ok, it's going to be ok.'" and she asked her if she was leaving her, to which her mom replied yes. She was woken up by the phone ringing to tell her that my great grandmother had had a heart attack. I very much believe in this stuff, as well as all forms of the supernatural and the hereafter. I have always had deja vu since I was little..and not just little things, I mean WHOLE experiences. Random ones too, that make you go 'what the heck?'. Like for instance I dreamt that I was standing in the lobby of the movie theater with my friend, looking through my purse for my movie ticket. I found it in my pocket. Random huh? Well not a week later, there I was...in the middle of the movie theater, looking through my ticket with that same friend. I just stopped and was like "I've already done this.." So I felt in my pocket and there it was. |
All of these stories gave me chills...some good and some not so good. Keep 'em coming! |
woah... very intersting. I would love to hear more. |

Great stories. I love hearing about the happy ones! I have major chills! Please share more! |
My husband and I just got back from an overnight trip to Gettysburg, PA. My lst visit, his 2nd. We were touring the Jenny Wade house ( the only civilian to die during the battle of Gettysburg ) with 3 other ladies who have been to Gettysburg many times. Anyway, they told us the last time they toured the house and took pictures, when they got the pictures developed there were actual images of spirits ( or whatever they call them ) in the pictures. They told us The Jenny Wade House in Gettysburg has been on the Discover Channel because it's known for it's hauntings. I too believe that our loved ones that have passed on are watching over us and in their own way they communicate with us. Someone else mentioned the tv show The Ghost Whisiper. I love that show, especially the episode about the little boy who was killed on the railroad tracts and never left that spot because he said his mom told him, if he ever was lost to stay where he was and she would always come and get him. There's a new show on Lifetime tv called Lisa Williams. It's on Monday nights at 8 o'clock EST. She's someone who can communicate with those who have passed on. The show is about her doing readings for people who want to communicate with or find out how their loved ones that have passed on are doing. She also came to a hotel that the owners thought was haunted and told them what spirits were haunting their hotel and why. Well, Thanks for listening everyone and I enjoyed reading what everyone else had to say. Rudys Mom:aimeeyork (Dawn):animal-pa |
This Happen When I went back home this summer to see my family.. well I never meet my dads mom or anything but always wondered what she was like.. well I went to walmart to gets some flowers to put on her grave and my grate aunts who died and was barred the day before.. I was on my way to the grave yard and my cell rang.. I missed that call, it was unavailable.. so I could not call it back. THEN when I was already at the gravy yard, driving to her grave which was a little ways from the gate it rang again and it said unavailable, AGAIN.. (Keep in mind before the cell rang I was thinking of my grandma rosa) I was like hmmm.. knowing it was my mom cell I picked it up thinking it was my husband calling from Germany (I left out early to spend more time with my parents and the cell some times showed up unavailable when he called my moms cell) or some one she knew (she tag me with her cell as soon as I got off the plane lol) WELL I picked it up and said Hello.... And all i heard was static...and then it stoped... usually when something like this happens I FREK, but I was calm and I was like thats odd... So I called my hubby and asked if he called.. he said no he was sleeping.. Then I got to thinking of white nose and I was like.. maybe it was grandma rosa calling me, telling me she knows I think of her. I put the flowers on her grave and my grate aunts and went home and was messing with my moms phone, for some reason.. and GUESS WHAT!! My phone recorded it!! I WAS LIKE WTH!! Now I know I am not CRAZY!!! I told my dad and mom what happen and let them listen to what the cell recorded.. which was a LOUD and Soft static and pops, as if some one was talking, kind of..My dadvsmiled and said maybe it was her telling you she and her sister is ok:)... I was like maybe.. |
I get those deja vu moments all the time. It's freaky. We rented a house once and I would hear children laughing all the time. I would go check on the girls and they'd be napping or something, so it wasn't them. One of the times, I turned to look, thinking the girls had gotten up and swore I saw a little boy run by. Just caught him out of the corner of my eye. Creepy. |
I believe in this. All I say is........it's something special! |
