| Allergic All of a sudden I have become really allergic to alcohol within the past year. What causes this? Sometimes Im fine and sometimes I have a horrible reaction like right now Im having the worst reaction Ive ever had. I just had a small drink of a margarita and my face is blotchy red all over and I feel like my face is on fire, it actually hurts. I took benedryl and Im afraid to take more as Im already on some other medication so how do I get this allergic reaction to go away? All I had was one sip!

| Sounds like God is trying to send you a message: Thou shalt not drink! LOL But seriously, I am glad that you are ok. Be careful allergic reactions can be serious to fatal..... |

Oh thats really scary, I never even thought of that. Ive had hives off and on for 2 weeks now(maybe thats why I had such a bad reaction to the maragarita? I dont really know ). Ive never had hives before in my life and this is so weird and has really sucked. I had to go to the doctor on Tuesday. She isnt sure if its stress related or a new medicine I was taking or what. Its really weird, I feel like over the past year my body chemistry has changed. I never had any allergies when I was younger but when I hit 25 i developed allergies to certain products, eye allergies and skin sensitivities and now hives Im only 25 and Im falling apart!! lol (thats what my husband always says)

| First of all, I'm not recommending that you experiment too much, but I've found that I can no longer tolerate Tequila either. It makes my nose itch so badly that I scratch and scratch until it's raw. I had a daquiri at dinner tonight with friends and it didn't set too well either. So, I'm sticking with beer as the only problem I seem to have with it is that I once I start, I just can't stop |

| I'm allergic to alcohol too. not as bad as you described above but i get really red and itchy and I get really hot for like 30 minutes then i'm freezing for like 3 hours. My cousin told me to take antacids (zantac, pepcid etc. the recommended dosage) before drinking and it's gotten better. btw, i'm not an alcoholic but i find that when i do drink (in moderation of course), it helps.

| I had a teacher was allergic and that her ears would burn up. She said that was how she was able to tell her limit. If I were you I would just stay away from alcohol. God could be preventing you from drinking for a more serious reason, and this is just his way. I don't understand why people develop allergies so late in life. I've never been allergic to any type of animal, and the past couple of years I've developed the worst allergies to small animals (not Yorkies, more like rodents and such).

| You may not be allergic to the alcohol but something in the margarita mix. I know my hubby is allergic to strawberry daquries but is not allergic to alcohol. It is something in the mix for him. |
