| Dating again... As some of you might know from my other posts, I broke up with my long-time boyfriend recently. We got my yorkie together as our dog but when we split I kept him. Tonight I went on my first date since our break up and man was it hard! The guy was really nice and is a special education teacher, but when he came to pick me up and met Howie, he was so awkward with him! Howie loves people and when he tried to give my date kisses on his hands he nearly freaked out. He seemed like he got really nervous! I joked and said, "Wow you must not like dogs!" And he responded by saying that he has mixed feelings about them. Once Howie calmed down, my date noticed the puppy pads in the corner and I tried explaining the purpose of the puppy pads but he looked at me like I had 18 heads!! Sigh. I couldn't possibly be with someone who doesn't love Howie. I know that this is a silly thing to be worrying about. I just worry that no one else is going to "get me" and my relationship with Howie again. And on top of the dog thing it just felt so weird and almost painful to be out with someone who wasn't my ex. I was the one who ended the relationship and I do think it was the right decision, but wow is this difficult. I'm not sure what the point of this post is, I guess I just needed to get my feelings out there. Thanks for listening!

| No, you're not mistaken. Can you believe there are actually people out there that (1) have never had a dog and/or (2) don't like them? But it's true and relationships like this don't really mesh well. Don't worry, though. There are lots of men out there that love dogs. Actually, it's a great way to tell a lot about the character of a man. If he doesn't like and care about animals, look for another one.

| My boyfriend used to hate dogs. Before I moved down to Arizona (I lived in Oregon and he lived here), I told him that I wouldn't move unless he let me get a puppy. Now that we have Ferdinand, he absolutely loves him. Some people are just awkward around dogs if they've never had one before. You'll find a guy that loves dogs... and even better... love you!
