Look who flew through our yard today! Today was an exciting day. We had a tree company here taking out a huge oak tree right at our front door...not an easy task for the way our lot sits and the height of the tree. We had to hire a crane...there was heavy equipment everywhere. The only way to remove the tree was with the crane and lift it right over the top of our house...pretty scary but what an interesting thing to watch! Anyway, once they were about done I saw some of the guys pointing across the street so I thought they were just looking at all the other huge trees in our neighborhood...nope! They pointed to something in one of the trees...it was a Bald Eagle and man was he ever huge! He had a fish from the lake and he was sitting in the tree having his lunch! I took a picture of him flying overhead and a few of him sitting in the trees around us...man what a sight! It did make me think I should keep a real close eye on the boyz when they're out on the deck though.....

But please keep a close eye on your baby! I know I have seen a hawk flying around, so I'm extra carefull with Lillie outside, I stay right by her side! |

Thanks everyone...yep, I would say awsome is the word! I grew up along the Illinois river and I remember Bald Eagles flying around then and they all but disappeared for a long time. It was really cool to see one flying overhead again!

that is so neat! In Alaska they are like pigeons--they are everywhere--right Mike? But in Illinois (or Arizona where I am) it's a big deal!

Yes, it is a big deal to see one flying free in Illinois...there are a few pair on Plumb Island in the Starved Rock area but I've never seen one this far south. Most people never even see an eagle unless they're visiting a zoo. I just thought it was such an awsome sight...
