| I know it is very stressful dealing with a sick child. They are probably holding off hospitalizing her because there isn't any more they would be doing for her except to monitor her input and output. Keep giving tylenol and Ibuprofen and push the fluids, anything she will drink, kool aid, juice, popcicles, 7 up, jello, pedialyte, what ever. You can also sponge her off with water and alcohol and giver her tepid baths. You have to give the antibiotics time to work. Keep her drinking. |

| Can you take her somewhere else? Is there a Children's Hospital you can go to? From experience when I was a kid. They did this to my mom with me. I was really sick, and after 5 doctors and 4 hospitals. They told her everything from scarlet fever, rhumatic (spelling?) fever, growing pains, to I was making it up. Finally my mom told the last people that was it, told them she was taking me to children's hospital and they had better of called to advise them we were coming by the time she got there. Love my mom. Point being, go with your gut. If you feel something is wrong then insist they do more. This is your child and you have every right. Tell that doc you want a second opinon, something.

| I HATE DC PARENTS.... not all just one. Since my baby is so sick I have taken a week of vacation time..that im entitled to per MY contract that SHE signed that i can take a week off and still be paid and im not responsible for other charges to another sitter...WELL she told me today that i need to pay it for her because she cant afford it! GOD...I wanted to say SO bad "your whole damn daycare is paid for with my state tax dollars anyways i dont think its going to kill your ass to pay a week god forbid." but I didn't. I am afraid if I piss her off than she will go elswhere.. that will be 445.00 of my income a month. Jeff said too bad so sad..she signed the contract and she knows you get a PAID vacation! This week has been horiible! Everybody else has been so awesome with the whole taking off thing of course most of them are state assisted and even said its not going to hurt me to pay a a weeks worth out of pocket if needed.....but this one...I tell you what!!!!! Any suggestions? |

| Here's a link on pyelonephritis to read. It really sounds like she needs to be in the hospital on iv. fluid therapy and antibiotics by injection. I hope she is not in any pain. http://www.healthatoz.com/healthatoz...onephritis.jsp I also had a bad experience as a child (about 15). I had a rare form of cancer and it had sealed itself off in a bag and had become gangrenous (sp?) and it was trying to rupture and I was in terrible pain. They told my Mom I had the stomach flu and was over-reacting; however, they did give me a shot of demerol. My Mom took me the next morning to get an ultrasound done which showed the tumor (the size of a grapefruit)! Don't you have a sister, friend, sister-in-law, mother, MIL, anyone that might be willing to stand in for you. |

| it hurts when she pees. she says her back hurts too. I am just so aggravated I feel like crying. That sounds soo much like what she has.. She had over 100 puss cells in her urine which is a huge amount for a 3 yr old. They will do something torrow if I have to kick somebodys ass into gear. She is up and playing alittle right now but than she goes down pretty fast. i dont have anybody to stand in for me but since im entitled to me PAID vacation as in my contract im not going to worry about it. I guess if she has a big problem she can go on! Quote:

| Since her infection sounds so serious it might not help, but it certainly won't hurt - go down and get some 100% cranberry juice (not the kind with sugar and ony a little juice) and it's a natural remedy for curing bacteria in the urinary tract and it also helps with pain. Also, make sure she isn't eating or drinking anything with sugar, high fructose corn syrup, etc. because the bacteria will only feed off of the sugar. It is so important that she is taking in fluids right now, not only a normal amount, but more than the usual amount. When my kids were sick they always used baby bottles - actually, they continued this until they were in 7th grade or so It sounds strange, but if you can get her to drink more, this way, who cares!! How long has she been on the antibiotics? It usually takes about 2 days to kick in, but no more than 3. If it has been 3 days or longer, then the antibiotic isn't working and she needs a different one. Did they do a culture (grow bacteria from her urine sample)? It takes a few days to grow the bacteria in a petri dish then they try different antibiotics to see which one the bacteria responds to best (kills it). |
