Donating YT 30K Club Member | Baby alpaca My sister's 2 alpaca's were pregnant and I have been on baby watch all week as she had to go back to work, she's a teacher. I have been going everyday and since they have them between 9:30 am to 1:30 pm I go around 11. On Friday, my BIL stopped by at 10 and called me and said not to bother going as they looked fine. I had a gut feeling and stopped by at 12:30 and I looked oin the pasture and both Mom's were grazing and looked fine, then I got a little closer and OMG a baby!! He was not walking yet but after 10 minutes he got up and was stumbling around. He was so cute. I had to scoop up the huge afterbirth into a bucket for the vet to check and when my BIL got there we checked to see if boy or girl, Boy and I had to put iodine on the umbilical cord. Pretty crazy. Last year this mon had a baby boy and my niece and I were there for the whole delivery. The baby's head was sticking out with 2 hooves for about an 1/2 hour and then he just dropped out. The mom's have them standing up. The white Alpaca, Maddie is the Mom, we are waiting on teh brown Mom to have her baby within the next 2 weeks. Unfortunately the males are worth 1500 and females are worth 10,000 to 15,000 so we are hoping Rosie has a girl!

| Boy Patti, it's a good thing you stopped to check. What a surprise! He is adorable. I want one. My dtr has been begging for one for a year. I had no idea they were that valuable. There are a couple farms in this area that I know of that have them. What a neat animal to raise.

| So cute! They have the softest hair. Why are the males so much less expensive?

Donating YT 30K Club Member | They are raised for their fur. Every summer my sister has to have then sheared and she sends the fur to a coop and they turn it into yarn. The females are more expensive becasue they can be bred.
