Good for you!!!!!!!!! My very best friend actually had to take her ex-boyfriend to court over "their" dog. Even though HE bought the dog, she was the one who cared for it...bought him food, took him to the vet and paid for all the vet expenses, ect. She had all the receipts to prove this, too. She told the judge that the dog was a gift. It is against the law to take gifts back, and since she had receipts to show that SHE was the one taking care of him, she ended up with the dog...hands down.

My fiancee made a comment once that if we ever split he is taking my babies...I looked at him, smiled and said "we'll see" and then I said First off you can't split them because they've been together and they will suffer...2..I am the one taking care of them..yeah he gives them love but no one at home bathes them, makes sure they have fresh water and food and run them to the vet. I did say you can have visitation rights and thats IT!!
Also all receipts are under my NAME....just like everything else in my house.. hahahahaha I hope I don't sound like a B*tch but better safe than sorry. And don't get me wrong...I love my fiancee to death and our relationship is wonderful.

This is so hilarious to me because this is EXACTLY what I do! I'm not a b*tch, but you have to take precautionary measures! I'm married, but I make sure I am very self-sufficient. There are just too many things that happen to relationships these days...not just infidelity, but death, too. All the vet bills are in my name, I bathe the doggies, come home EVERY single day for lunch to walk them, I give them fresh food and water every single morning, ect. ect. It is better to be safe than sorry! You are right!
