| pet flea market update No I did not buy a pup. I saw alot of different kinds of dogs, a few yorkies about 10 months and on. But mostly farm animals just loads of chicken.bunnies mice Possums..racoons.. I saw some birds mostly finches, canaries and conures.. I did buy a Bird.... This lady was walking around with this Blue headed conure on her shoulder. I asked her Is he for sell. At first she said no. because she had others to sell. but I fell for this one Called TINKA TOY..Yeap.. he is at home with me. when I was leaving with Tinka she was crying very hard..I felt sad for her but she said she has no real time for him anymore. I do have the time. And other cool thing she has 3 Yorkies so Tinka is used to FURBABIES.. TINKA IS EATING ,KISSING AND HE SINGS AND WAS LAUGHING WITH ME ON THE WAY HOME. BUT.. I can't get him to get off my shoulder and he doesn't like my husband to much. I get pics when we all are settle in together. I did not see anything so darn awlful.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Congrats on your bird - but when you said you didnt see anything so awful - I guess you don't know anyone who's bought from fleamarkets. I do. Here in Houston they sell them at a few different places - I know 3 people in the last 6 years who didn't know better and bought a puppy - (not at the same Flea Market either) 2 of the puppies died from Parvo - the other puppy had worms really REALLY bad. Flea Market Pets are pretty much sold without any care to their welfare you're taking a chance bringing home a bird and I would def take it to your vet to get it checked out. I don't really know anything about birds at all - but if it were me - that's what I would do. Flea markets rank right up there with those people on the side of the road selling puppies - you never know what you're getting. For anyone wanting a healthy dog - NEVER buy from a Flea Market

| I have to agree with those discouraging buying live animals from a flea market. I think it is supporting people who are selling live animals for profit. Good luck with your new parrot. I hope you are fully aware of the commitment and care that a bird anywhere in the parrot family requires. A puppy is much easier. Many many exotic animals and parrots do fall into that category, end up in rescues and often with neurosis as the owner did not understand what owning one and the number of years of commitment involves. I would love to see it be illegal for sales of any live animals at pet stores, through brokers, flea markets and live auctions of pet animals. |
