| I like bats, so I didn't hurt it or any of the others that have come visiting. Whatever creatures are living between my 2 floors, they keep to themselves, but they do party alot. I'm pretty sure they are squirrels. The mice are in the walls. Their parties are much quieter. The squirrel throw nuts. Heck, they throw walnuts at me when I'm in the back yard. There has been a possum and a hawk that sit on the fence in the back yard. As much as I "adore" this place, we will be moving back to Myrtle Beach in a couple months. We can deal with Palmetto Bugs there .

I crawl back under my comforter, take a deep breath and climb back into my clothes to do a encore performance for any neighbors who might have missed the first one. This time was easier. It was in the kitchen by the time I got downstairs and the cats had it trapped and hanging on a curtain. I moved the cats, scared the bat so he flew, opened the screen and he flew out(I hope). I threw the blanket over my head after I opened the window, heard something and when I looked, one of the cats was trying to go out of the window. I haven't seen him since and the cat's are doing their own thing. I am waaayyy too old for this. If I am still up at 2, I want to see lights flickerin and hear someone yelling "Last Call"!! I am going to go upstairs one last time. I am going to shut my door this time and pray they aren't getting into the house from my room. I just read this part oh my stars! I thought I had already laughed... Such comedy but I do believe what you are saying and I hope everything is resolved now!

| I know what you all are going through! We just had a bat in our house last Saturday through Monday. The bat could've been living in the house longer than that.....not sure. On Saturday about dinnertime just after the sun went down was when we first saw the bat flying through the house. My husband went and got a fishing net and was running through the house trying to catch the ugly thing. They are FAST! Every time it flew by me, I screamed! I put our 2 yorkies downstairs so we wouldn't trip over them and they wouldn't get bitten. My husband did not catch the bat......we didn't see him anymore that night or Sunday. Then Monday.....about 5:30pm I took the dogs out to go potty and my husband came runnning out of the house saying that the bat was flying around again. He left the door open and proped the screen door open and moved off the porch so the bat wouldn't pick him up on his radar. The bat didn't fly out so my husband went back inside to see. He immediately came running back outside and said that the bat was still flying around. Shortly after my husband came running out the second time, the bat flew out of the house. We live in a log home with an open floor plan and a loft that leads to the bedrooms. It is really difficult to catch a bat when you have 25' living room ceilings. We have lived in this house for 9 years, and this is the first time we've seen a bat in the house. My dear hubby and I spent nearly 4 hours at the hospital emergency room today waiting to get the first of our series of rabies shots. The health department suggested that we get the shots because we were exposed to the bat at night (while sleeping) for at least 2 nights. Today was an immune globulin shot and a rabies booster. The immune globulin was too much to give all in one shot, so the nurse gave us 2 shots in each cheek. The booster shot we got in the arm. We looked pretty silly with 4 band-aids on our butts and one on the arm......quite a sight! I know it seems funny to most of you......but let me tell you that it is the most frightening thing in the world to have a bat flying at your face! After having a bat flying around in our house......a snake in the basement and mice in the car don't seem so bad.

| I am sorry for laughing but your story was comical and you are a better woman than me. I cant imagine what I would have done but my guess is along the lines of packing up and heading for a friends house. Hope you get to retire your bat hunting gear and get some sleep tonight.
