The tennis racquet! I guess that is the weapon of choice when it comes to bats. My husband had a phone interview a couple of years back and two minutes before they called a bat flew in the house. He put on his bike helmet, grabbed his tennis racquet and went after that bat. He managed to get it out of the house, but was quite breathless for his interview. On one hand, I'm glad I wasn't home because bats FREAK me out. On the other hand, I am sorry I missed my husband running around the house in his bike helmet and a tennis racquet.

| Omg! This waws sooo funny to read this afternoon! I have only seen bats at the zoo. I know we have them here but so far no encouters. I dont know what a palmetto bug is but I totally understand about smashing roaches on a white wall It never comes off! You have to repaint! I miss the good old days when I only saw roaches on fear factor! And they stink so bad, kind of like dirty iron! ewwwww.I so wish I could have been there to help you flush out bats! It sounds like you had a blast! Its good to know you will be moving out of your bat/crack/underage wonderland. Hopefully there will not be a sequal!

| Its funny reading your story although I know its no fun too deal with one. Personally, I think bats are cute and oh well hubby says I am crazy for all creatures including bats. I have had 2 close encounters with them, they were insect bats I think. They were on the floor just outside my door(maybe they were hurt? I wasn't sure but it couldn't fly). It was pitiful so I caught both the bats (at different times) with a shoe box poked with holes and then put a small bottle cap filled with water and the other with honey in it, let it eat and rest in the dark and waited till night time to release them. Come night time I went to the park nearby where I can hear a lot of bats flying and I put the box somewhere high so that the bats can swoop down to start its flight. Weird thing is I didn't give much thought about rabies when I was doing it (didn't get bitten anyways so its good). The poor thing was so scared it was shaking. I did open the box a little and peek at them, they looked at me and they are cute with the beady black eyes, something like a creature out from a cartoon; not scary at all. Their eyes actually looked like they have emotions! I think bats deserve a better reputation. They play a very important role in the environment although I agree it sucks if your scared of them.

| OMG hahahaha you are braver than I. I used to date a firefighter and we had a bat in our house once and he knew how to take care of it so he got it out pretty fast, but if it happened to me now Id either call the fire dept while I stood outside with the furbutts in the freezing cold til they got there, or Id be knocking on the neighbors door asking to stay the night LMAO!!! I HATTTEEEE BATS!! Oh get this, the house my guy bought from his parents, actually has a bat house attached to it that is meant to ATTRACT bats!!! Now WHO would WANT to attract bats?? certainly not I! LOL I know they are good for eating unwanted bugs.. buttt uuugggghhhh they creep me out!

| Littlewhip....you are funny! Try having a mouse in your car. Yep....had one of those too! I was midspan on a trestle with noplace to pull over and a mouse ran from behind the passenger side glove box down the floor and under the seat. Then I saw a mouse run back up behind the glove box. So I'm thinkiing......is that one mouse, or two? I was totally screaming the whole time. I also was driving with my heels off the ground.....have you ever tried that?......Not so easy to do. We took my 4-Runner into the dealership's service dept. and they found a family of mice in the fan motor housing. The bill came to $600. Late last Summer I went down to the basement to do some laundry and there was a gardner snake in front of the washer and dryer. I called my husband at work and asked him what I should do. He said to "pick it up and take it outside". I said "are yo crazy? I'm not going to do that!". He then told me to get the aluminum baseball bat that was downstairs. So I got the bat and whacked the snake several times.....one of them cut him in half. He was still moving so I whacked him a few more times.....one of them got his head. I then scooped him up into a big dustpan and ran to the trash can that has a lid......with the dustpan out in front of me as far as I could stretch my arm and I dumped him. When my husband got home, he took the trash bag outside. That was the grossest thing I have ever had to do (until the bat-in-the-house incident recently).......made a BIG mess all over the basement floor......YUCK!!!
