Arrest Mad in JonBenet Ramsey Case DENVER -- A Denver television station reported Wednesday that an arrest has been made in the unsolved 1996 slaying of JonBenet Ramsey. Authorities in Boulder, Colo., informed JonBenet Ramsey's father, John Ramsey, that an arrest is expected outside of the United States, according to KMGH-TV in Denver. In a telephone statement delivered from his Denver office to KMGH-TV, the Ramsey family's attorney, Hal Haddon, confirmed the arrest. "The diligent investigation of Jon Benet Ramsey's murder by Boulder D.A. Lacey and detectives working with her has been extraordinary," Haddon told the station. "It is hoped this arrest will bring some closure to the Ramsey family after a 10-year ordeal. We respect the legal process and will have no further comment until the legal process is concluded." Ramsey was found dead in the basement of her parents' Boulder home on Dec. 26, 1996. Her death has remained unsolved for almost 10 years. No other details in the case were immediately available. http://www.nbc10.com/tu/5ibO0AJ3q.html for more info if available |
hmmmm i always thought the parents did it |
i alway thought the dad did it. soooo sad:( |
UPDATe! MSNBC reported that the suspect was arrested in Bangkok, Thailand. The suspect apparently made a confession regarding certain parts of the crime, according to MSNBC. A source close to the investigation told KMGH-TV that the suspect is a U.S. citizen. The District Attorney's Office in Boulder said they would not be holding a news conference regarding the arrest, KMGH-TV reported. Boulder police also did not immediately comment on the case. Ramsey was found dead in the basement of her parents' Boulder home on Dec. 26, 1996. Her death has remained unsolved for almost 10 years. JonBenet and her mother, Patsy Ramsey, who died last month of ovarian cancer, are both buried in Cobb County, Ga. |
I saw a documentary on this once a while back and the police on there were saying that they had a couple of suspects that were NOT the parents. I'm glad that they are still following through with this case. It is so sad. |
I just saw this. Report says the suspect confessed to information about the crime that has never been released to the public. I'm so glad to read that there just might be an end to this after all this time. I was one of those who wasn't sure who to believe on who could have done this awful crime. It's just a shame if it turns out this person is the one who did this that her mother did not live to see the arrest:( |

OMG sooo sick. i feel bad that i thought it was the father. i should have not judge him like that. |
That is gross!!! A teacher who's around kids all the time!! The whole situation was very sad!!! |
i still believe the parents did it ive just always had that feeling |
I just saw this on MSN. It shows that theres still hope for unsolved cases. I hope they got the right guy. |
Wow! I am glad something has come about in the case. I always feel so bad for the families who are caught in the "unsolved crimes" because of the lack of closure I am sure they have to deal with! A part of me always thought it had something to do with the parents too. I am glad their names will be cleared if they in fact didn't have anything to do with it. It would be horrible to go on for 10 years with so many people *thinking* you killed your baby girl!! |
That is such wonderful news, Too bad Patsy did live to see it. They said the man know details about the case that only the killer would know. I wonder if he confesed. |

same here!!! in class once we did a major study on this and all the evidence lead up to the parents... and out of nowhere this random guy is caught? i remember seeing her parents on TV... they looked like they were faking being sad (sorry just my opinion).. :thumbdown |

They said on the radio this morning that she knew before she died that the police were real close to catching the killer. Atleast now she is with her daughter. |
i didnt know the mom died!! how??? |
They actually said this morning that they are bringing him back to the US this week, but even though he confessed they are really going to have to do some more investigating because sometimes sickos will confess to crimes they didn't commit just to get publicity. He was on TV this morning confessing publicly to the crime. He said on TV that JonBenet's death was an "accident" and that he "loves her." I saw him on the Today show this morning. He looks like a sick SOB. There is no doubt in my mind that he did it. I hope Bubbah wears his butt out in prison. |
wow.. i really hope they have finally solved this case it gives hope to many parents/relatives of other unsolved cases... esp children |

I agree - it is comforting to know Patsy was aware of this suspect prior to her death. I just hate that she did not live long enough to see his arrest:( As I said yesterday, I was one of those who didn't know what to believe - were the parents involved or was it someone else? But from what I've seen on the news last night and read on the internet yesterday and this morning, this sicko has confessed (or provided information) that is not known to the public, things only the person(s) involved would know about. I think because of the way the parents acted at that time, and even a few years later, there will always be that cloud of suspicion but I hope that with the arrest of this man, if he is in fact the person responsible for the death of such a beautiful, innocent child, that the cloud will begin to go away. |
I still believe that the mother did it . |

I think it was so sad how they drug this along for 10 years. |
when I look at his picture, my stomach sinks and I get the chills I believe he is guilty I can feel it. just makes me sick, so sick I literally could throw up. People like this dont even deserve the luxury of prison. If I was her dad, I would kill him myself, no questions asked!!!! |
Maybe that poor little girl will finally have some peace. Too bad her mom didn't live to see this - I really hope that guy ends up in General Population - but he'll be protected in jail - probably really be missing his perversions - but they way he looks - he'll end up being someones B*tch. (sorry - but that's the word that's used) :p We can just hope it's some BIG BOY named Bubba |
