No Longer a Member | Requesting prayer.. Good morning friends~ I will probably regret airing my business but 6 in the morning after being up all night just doesn't seem like a bad thing. Have come here this morning asking for prayer for my daughter who has decided on her own she wants to come off of all her psychiatric meds. She says she wants to feel alive again. I'm talking about Effexor, Zanax, Topomax and Lithium. Her shrink has decreased ALL of these drugs at one time and I sit here quietly freaking out, praying and searching the web.. I just feel we should be decreasing one at a time. Am not proud of it but have come off many bad things years ago and it wasn't pretty but nothing like I am helplessly witnessing. She just wants to be whole again, it has been many years..long story as to what brought her to this point. You really don't have to read all this, feels better just getting it out there. ~Denise |

| Oh Denise- How hard it must be for you to watch your daughter struggle with this. I hope that it all works out for the best and the mental illness does not take over as a result. Please ask her to do everything she can to take good care of herself without the medications - a regular wake/sleep schedule, healthy foods, no alcohol, regular exercise and support groups regularly. My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | My prayers will be with you Denise and your daughter. Hopefully under the Dr.'s care the reduction in meds will be better for her. I can understand her wanting to be off of the meds, and I'll be praying she finds the peace her mind needs right now without the meds.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | hopefully she will be fine with dropping all the meds at the same time. lithium alone is not fun to come off of. My friend who's been on a couple different drugs before has decided to quit cold turkey on more then one occasion and it just resulted in getting her physically sick. Another person i know was on lithium and she quit taking it (don't know if it was cold turkey or if she weened herself off) but supposively she is doing much better for herself now. She feels that dealing with her psychiatric problems is much better then dealing with all the side effects that the meds gave her. I personally have never been on something as serious as xanax and lithum, only effexor for a short period of time, and coming off that made me very very sleepy (being on it made me sleepy too so it really was only slightly worse for a couple days). I wish you and your daughter all the best of luck and i hope she's feeling better enough to deal with her demons once she's off the meds. you guys are in my thoughts.
