| I touched a real dinosaur!! I am so excited - I've texted everyone in my address book on my phone and I just had to share with you all at YT. I got to touch a Tuatara! They are an endangered species found only here in NZ and they have been around since the dinosaurs! Over 200 million years! He felt so soft, not scaly at all. And he was cold to the touch. And he was so cute. He had big dark eyes and looked like he had a big smile on his face. Such a once in a life time opportunity! For all those not up on their Native New Zealand fauna Here's a link to some info on tuataras. http://www.doc.govt.nz/Conservation/...ls/Tuatara.asp ANd I've added a wee pic. I still can't believe it!!

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | LOL, one of my first school speeches ever was in 6th grade on the tuatara. However, you just told me more than I remember about my speech. I definitely don't remember them being 200 million years old. No wonder I didn't get an A. Very cool.

| Someone organised a talk at work and the speaker brought the little fella along. I knew there had to be an upside to working for the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology. (It certainly isn't the hours, the money or the glamour!) Although we do get muffins and scones for morning tea every Friday. I feel pretty darn priviledged to live here in NZ with such amazing wildlife. If anyone on YT ever visits Wellington NZ I'll be more than happy to show you round! At least to see tuataras if not touch them!
