| I'm a foster-dog mom tonight! I'm not sure I've mentioned, but I work at a nursing/rehab facility. There's a very sad situation going on right now, and it's truly breaking my heart. First a woman came into our facility for rehab after a stroke, then a few months later her husband needed very much the same care from us, as well. He left a so-called-trusted-family-friend in charge of paying the rent on their house, as well as the utilities, so they'd have a home to return to after their rehab is complete. This person was also supposed to care for their puppy, Sam. Late yesterday afternoon, we found out that this person has been spending this sweet couple's money on himself, and hasn't paid the bills for their home. In a whirlwind of activity, I froze their bank account & cancelled the atm card, and started making calls for emergency housing for Sam. Today we changed the locks on the doors at the house, and picked up the dog. A police report was filed, as well, and the necessary paperwork is on it's way from the State. Sam has been neglected...he's been fed & had water, but this poor fella hasn't had an ounce of attention. He's so sad! I spent a couple of hours on the phone today, calling all the shelters, daycares, vets, volunteers, etc...that I could find, trying to find a temporary home for Sam, and met with negatives at every turn. A couple of people at work thought they might be able to take him in for a bit, but no one wanted to take him home tonight...they wanted to be able to talk it over with family first. So, Sam is home my family tonight. He's had a bath, a nice dinner, and LOTS of playtime & cuddles. He & my Max aren't getting along well at all (Max is spoiled & used to being the center of attention, and Sam isn't used to having anyone around at all...you can just imagine!) So, we're taking turns playing with Sam in one room & Max in another, keeping them out of eyesight of each other so they don't get all riled up. Maybe you can send some extra thoughts & prayers for Sam, and his mom & dad, as we figure a way out of this situation for them all, so they can be together again at home in a few weeks, or if they aren't able to go back home, at least we'll find a loving home for Sam so they won't have to worry about him anymore. |

| That is so sad! Too bad the little guys don't get along...how nice of you to take care of him...just in case you do end up caring for him long-term, the two will proably get to know and like each other..my dog LOVES my in-law's Scrappy, but he wanted nothing to do with her and hated her geting any of his human attention, but within a matter of days, they were doing fine...
