My Sweet 16- the show
 

Do any of ya'll watch the show My Sweet 16 on MTV? And do you watch it because you actually like it? I cant stand all the 16 year old spoiled brats on the show and if I was their parents I would be soooo embarrassed. Im ashamed to admit that I find myself watching the show sometimes becasue I am so disgusted by it. And it made me wonder if that is the reason other people watch it too and thats why its on the air. So have any of you seen it? What did ya think?

I watch it sometimes, but it really just makes me mad! I can't believe how some of those kids act! And its the parents fault! What is really annoying to me is when they are like, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy! That gets on my nerves! Anyways and it makes me feel like I'm broke as a joke :D

hmmmm, no I haven't seen it, but having a 16 year old, maybe I'll take a look.

Hey Shana, That's my husband's show! He is the lead editor on it :D . He always says the juiciest and best stuff they can't put on air!!!

He always cries about having to do it because it insults his intellectual capabiities, but it's been our bread and butter. I have to admit, it is my guiltiest pleasure!

Oh I admit it,, I watch it,, just cause it blows my mind! Those ungrateful kids, with NO respect... UGHH! I can't imagine, If I EVER taked to my parents like that,, there would be no party EVER and certainly no Mercedes! I keep waiting for one thankful kid... guess that wouldn't be interesting... :cool:

i always end up so mad at the show and wanting to throw something at the tv, or just reach out and slap the kid AND the parents. 'cause it's LONG OVER DUE!!! I can't stand and can't watch the show. It's like crack. Once you start, you gotta finish, but it's so bad for you, i just don't even go there any more.

I love it!!!!!!! I love the snotty brats. They keep me grounded :D

I watch it but I can't really stand the girls on it. I watch it because it's like driving by a car wreck. You can't help but look. The people from the show on myspace say they are "edited to look bad." But no one can speak the words on your mouth but you. So I think they are really that way.
It does seem like stuff is staged though. On every episode there is 1 stupid thing that the kid whines about that the parent says they can't have, then they eventually get it for the party wether it be a car, or a singer. It's getting so obvious and lame... Sorry, I guess you can give your hubby the feedback.
The first episode wasn't bad from the first season. 2 girls had a party together and they charged everyone $1 to get in and it all went to breast cancer awareness.
I really do think that they are wasting all of that money just to show off. I hate the way they talk to their parents, especially the way Sophie did. She is the one who told her mom to sit down and shut up. There was another girl that was really annoying, the one who said, "EWWW a used car!"
I really hate how the kids say that people don't like them just because everyone is jealous. No, we don't like you because of your attitude. And they always say things like, "My party costed more than my parents wedding, but I DESERVED IT." No child, you did not deserve it. You only deserved it if YOU worked for the money and earned it, not fell into it. I just feel sorry for whoever chooses to marry these self-absorbed people someday.

I am getting old I guess..it really gets to me to see some who have so much and others who have nothing. I was comparing that show to the one of Oprah's about the African girls who were so grateful for being given the most basis of needs...what joy it brings to give a grateful person a small treat..and there is nothing worse then an ungrateful person.
I vote all these girls spend their summer vacation in Africa...heck they don't have to go that far..we have people around here who can't feed their kids. I saw a little boy eating old pizza out of the trash a few weeks ago.

Oh that is horrible. I would have gone out and bought him a whole pizza :(

Thats crazy!!! Well the show is so insane but I think thats why I catch an episode here and there. Where in the heck do they find these evil teenagers that the base the show on? lol
Seriously do they audition, send in tapes of themselves?


Hey I just had an idea. We should do a sweet 16 of our yorkies and make it just as crazy and outrageous as the people on the show. Wouldnt that be funny? lol (OKay maybe it would only be funny to us :rolleyes: )

wanted to add... you know what that show is like to me... it's "birth control". hahaha.

I knew of the show but never really watched in until my 13
year old daughter came to me one day and asked what we
were going to be doing for her sweet 16. Umm...nothing!
Once I saw it I was apalled! I can't believe the expectations
of these kids and their parent's should be slapped upside the
head for creating such materialistic little monsters. I HATE
that show!

I can never believe how rude and ungrateful these kids are. First of all, WHY oh WHY would parents spend half a million dollars on a stupid birthday party??? My boyfriend says he feels bad for the chumps that will marry those girls because they will never measure up. The parents are at fault for this, not the kids. Who wouldn't want a huge birthday with cars as presents? I dont know, I could never talk to my parents like that, I would get all my stuff taken away which to me was a huge punishment. I hate when they have the girls on there that are adopted and they say things like "Well since I'm adopted I should get more because I made my parents dream come true. They don't feel as guilty taking me from my biological mom when they buy me stuff"..totally sickened me.

I think I know who you are talking about. Did you notice that she didn't do anything to get her brother to live with her? I know he wasn't doing as well as her. He was working while going to high school. I wonder if he even got adopted...
