Is my daughters room babyish? 4 Attachment(s) My sister in law was over tonight and told me that my 7 yr old daughters room was babyish. We are great friends and always tell each other how it is, so I'm not mad. I just don't really think it is babyish. She just turned 7 in Jan. and is only in the 1st grade. I don't know maybe a little babyish. I guess it may be time to redo her room again. What do you think? (and PLEASE be honest) |
it's very childish and could be construed as babyish, so yes in some degrees. sorry. |
Looks like a little girls room to me, ask your daughter if she wants a change...maybe she loves it, if she does then who cares. You are just going to have to change the whole thing in a few years anyway, i am the oldest of five and my mom was constantly changing our rooms and finally gave up. I am older now, and married but my mom is still trying to keep up with my 16 year old sister, styles change like she changes underwear he he. |

Nothing wrong with babies or babyish...they grow up fast enough |
It's not babyish to me at all..it's very girly and Princessy...which I love!! I like her room..I think it fit's for a 7 yr old and wouldn't change it 'til she's at least 11!!! Kids especially little girls need to have things their age while they are that age...I hate GROWN acting Kids...again especially little girls...but this is coming from a woman who played with dolls until I was 13...and I just packed up my collectable dolls and teddy bears... edited to add...please let kids be kids as long as they want to be...ie look at Paris and Brittney...EEEEEEEWW :thumbdown |
Thanks for all your opions. I just did it for her 6th birthday. So it has only been a year. She still likes it but said she would like to get a new comforter. I had so much fun finger painting her room, and would hate to cover it up already. |
I think it's adorable and exactly what I would envision a 7 year olds room to look like! |
That would be to me a perfect girl's room at 7. Sometimes people are in such a rush for everyone to grow up. She is 7 let her be a child and enjoy her beautiful room... pay no attention. |
At first when you said babyish I thought you meant having precious moments or pooh stuff around the room to where it looked like a nursery. I think it does look like a little girl's room. I wouldn't change it if your little girl likes it. Her opinion is what matters the most! |
I think it's cute. Seems perfect for a 7 year old as long as it's what she wants and likes. |
I agree it is looks perfect for a seven year old. If she likes it, that is all that matters. She'll let you know when it is too young for her. |
I think considering your daughter is 7 and not 17, it's a very appropriate room for her. And absolutely adorable! When I was her age, pink was my favorite color. :) Also, I see a lot of Sanrio stuff in there... I'm 21, and I still like Sanrio. :p Completely off-topic: I spy a Yorkie in that last picture! |
oh god no it is not baby like! her is a link to a post i made awhile ago about my 7 yr old's room, it is still the same...i think her room is perfect for a little girl! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ht=loves+kitty |

Ok just to clarify my opinion... The only reasons I have for thinking of the room as babyish is because growing up I never had anything like that in my bedroom. My room consisted of a closet, a bed, a black lab, and a toy box full of barbies. Nothing special. My room was like that until I was seven and then my brother and I were taken out of that particular situation by our daddy. Then I lived with my grandparents, aunt and uncle. My room then consisted of a desk, bed, and a tv. I then moved to Utah after my daddy remarried and then shared a room with a step-sister(now sister) until 11. Even then the most I had throughout my room was two beds, a nice nightstand with a mirror, a closet, and toys strawn around. I finally had a decent bedroom when I reached 15. Nice curtains, nice sized bed, sun seat, and percolen dolls. I should also mention I don't have any kids.(I'm 23) My ex-bf had a five year old daughter, now six. and I imagine her bedroom looks simalar to the above pictures so It is appropriate, but at the same time I thought it looked a little overdone. This is simply my opinion. |
No not at all!!! Why do people want children to grow up so quick????? :( I think it is a lovely little girls room. |

shopping for the new comforter, wow wish we could go back in time to my oldest being seven, for the both of us those were such fun times with the children growing up. Enjoy each and every day the years fly by far toooooo fast. You did a beautiful job on finger painting. I use to do a lot of painting, but can't seem to find the time anymore. I think its very nice! My oldest son turns 2 today (born at 3:17 on 3/17) :) and hubby wanted to get him big boy stuff for his birthday. Me... Rubber ducky. He Loves Rubber Ducks and will walk around saying Quack Quack Quack - ok - so maybe it' more like ack ack ack. lol ANYWAY... They are young only once. enjoy it! She is old enough to say what she wants and if all it is is a new bedspread.... GREAT. Enjoy her being this age and being girly. I was such a tomboy. |

I think its cute. She is only 7 its not like she is 17. why dont you ask your daughter what she thinks about her room, It is her room and she has to live in it |
i think it's a great room for a little girl! i'm jealous! i wish i had something like that when i was 7, instead of having to share a room with my younger brothers. :p if i had that room, i'd probably keep it the same until i moved outta my parents house. haha. i love the canope for the stuffed animals! |
I think that room is totally cute for a 7 year old. Now if she was 14 years old, yeah it might be a little kiddish. But no I think its great for a 7 year old. |
It's perfect for a seven year old! Don't redecorate it just yet, I mean, I'm 16 and I'd like that room!!! |

I agree!!! I think it looks like a perfect little girls room - which a seven year old is!! My daughter is 11 now and has changed some of her tastes but still secretly likes to play with dolls and stuff!! She will let you know when things are no longer what she wants!! Don't fret - like said above = they grow up fast enough as it is!!!! :D |
She's a t year old for God's sake.. She is a baby.. :) I think it is perfectly fine for a 7 year old.. How does she feel about it though?? |
She's 7 years old and i bet she still loves her room the way it is, its not babyish at all. I'm guessing she will ask you to redo her bedroom when she's around 10, thats when most of them reach the "i'm grown up now" stage. If you and her are happy with it, why would you change it to please others  If she were to be 17 and still loved her prissy room, why would you change it ? Its her room & domain ;) Let her be a kid for as long as possible :D |
I have a 6 1/2 year old and her room is very similar and I just am grateful for every day that she wants it like that instead of having some crazy rock star in tight pants (OR WORSE) all over her room as that is coming soon enough. I so far let my daughter participate in her room decor and she still picks Disney Princesses...so I will enjoy and cherish the innocence while I can. Bren |
Your daughter is only 7 years old , so let the child have her childhood time . |
I think it's very age appropriate. Teens like Hello Kitty! You can do so much with the colors you already have on the walls just bu changing teh bedspread and curtains. My dtr is 20 and every year we change her room! |
No Hey that room looks like a little girls room to me and as long as she is happy with what she has , why does it matter RIght? Anyway she is only 7 I would have been lucky to have a room like that when I was 7 . it looks perfect. |
oh my, i would do anything for a room like that.. anything? i never had that. i will take that even now... only kidding....thats a perfect room for a 7 year old. if she wants to change it, then change it.. its up to her... shes only 7 , dont let her grow up tooo fast... |
