Really pissed need to vent.. My oldest son just called me from school. He got cut from the baseball team. He has played varisty baseball for 3 years, he's a senior this year and even though he is my son is, he is the teams best first baseman. The HS has a new varsity baseball coach and he said from the beginning that he has no problem cutting seniors from the team and they should expect that he will. Well the long and short is that he decided that he would rather have kids on the team that he can work with for more than one season. The coach cut just about all the seniors from the team. I am so pissed right now I feel like marching down to the school and doing something about this. However, I am sure that my son will take this in a more adult way then I want to right now. I have never heard of such a thing. What a great way to say goodbye to the seniors and showing the schools appreciation. Thanks for letting me vent.   :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown |
That's bull****... The coach should not be allowed to do that. He could be messing with kids chances of going on in life. If the school doesn't do anything about it I would call my local news station. They love it eat it up and your son along with the rest of the seniors if worthy would be put back on the team. My son plays ball also and I can't even imagine how I would feel! You have every right to be pissed... |

OMG!! I can't believe the coach has done that!!! You would think he would want to keep the seasoned players for the season - those who have proven themselves in the past and may help reach a division/district/state title! My youngest has been playing select baseball since he was 8 years old (he's now 13) and his goal has been to earn a starting position with the JV team at his school...he did that!! I would have a hard time controlling my temper and my tongue if this happened to Taylor! A senior's final year is when most college scouts are on the look-out for their university!! I agree with others here, if the school administrators and the athletic director does not handle this, I would be experiencing the worst case of writer's cramp by writing the local paper and would be on my way to becoming speechless from talking to all the news media!! An action reporter would LOVE to get his/her hands on this story!! Please keep us posted on what happens. |
What an A*****E lets hope he gets the sack:eek: |
I say march up there and raise H%^&!!! That coach should not be allow to do that! He could be ruining the chances of getting scholarships for some of the seniors. |
It's ALJ Highschool in Clark. I am going to see the principal after school today. I am just so PO right now. Maybe I should calm down first. What a way to end your senior year. |
Good luck!!! Just think you are probably not the only parent that has call them today about this. Have the boy's voiced their opinions to school when this happened? |
What the coach did was wrong. But, this is what I'd suggest: 1. Talk to your son. How does he feel about it? If playing the sport is his passion, what is he going to do about? What steps is he going to take to get that back? 2. Encourage him to go and talk to the coach, the school principal, sports director, etc. Ask HIM send a letter to the stations, to the newspapers, etc. As a mom, I know you're very upset and worry about this but your son needs to resolve this on his own. That's how they learn to handle the "tough" lessons in life. I worked with elementary school kids all the way up to high school kids. I've seen kids who bumped into the slightest problems and they didn't know how to solve it. They simply turn around and look at their parents for help. That's one of my biggest pet-peeves. Parents should TEACH their kids the "how to's" instead of just doing it for them. |

[QUOTE= Oh, and someone said to ask how your son feels? Well, he's obviously upset and mad or else he probably wouldn't have called you in the middle of school, right? [/QUOTE] Yeah, that someone is ME! |
Here's a lesson from a pro....... How to raise h-ll like a bansee........ And yes I agree children should be taught to resolve problems...HOWEVER in this case, if there were any possibility of my child receiving a sports scholarship....you bet your pibby, my butt would be in that principal's office. College scouts do not choose who they don't watch play.... |

You're right but kids need to learn how to do it first. Then, if the kids just aren't being successful, then the parents should intervene. Bottom line, kids should try it first. |
That isn't right at all. They should let the seniors finish out the year. You're more patient than I am...I would have been there already! |
And I'll tell you another thing, being cut from a sport did NOT teach me humility, it just made me feel like c-ap. |
I am sure they are all going to see the coach after school. Yes I plan on talking to him when he gets home. I know he was very upset to call me from school. First thing I thought was something happened because he NEVER calls me from school in the morning. Baseball is his passion he has been playing since he was five years old. He has given up going out with friends on Friday nights during baseball season so he could give 100% to the team. I just feel so bad that this is happening to NOT JUST HIM, but HIS FELLOW TEAM MATES during their senior year. |
    I would go to the school ASAP. It's not allowed here. This is his last year, Seniors shine their last year. I would fight to keep him on the team. |
Go get 'em girl. It's elementary, my dear, BANSHEE 101 ;) |

LOL NOBODY MESSES WITH YOU PERIOD!!!!!! :eyetearss I'm sure they will be put back on, what a jerk! I'd take his job away for that crap! Poor Seniors, this is their year!!!! |
Aiya, you're getting it all wrong... Of course being cut from a team would make me mad. Of course it'd make me feel like cr@p and not humility. I'm not suggesting anybody should just sit around and cry, or just accepting it. Fight for it! I'd be the first one to stand up for what I believe. In this case, I'm simply asking the kid to stand up (first) for something he's passionate about! The mom's role is to encourage him to do that. Give him ideas of what to do, be self-sufficient. Her job is to back him up and let him know that if he needed help, she's always there. |

I believe that every meeting he has with his coach or the school board you should be there to backup your son so he does not get stepped on. I would ask your son to provide you with the names of the members on the high school team. Talk to your son about holding a meeting with the members AND their parents. After everyone has said their piece, bring the whole group to the school board. Make sure students on the team know that this can happen to them their senior year. I would contact at least the local paper. I agree that the news will enjoy hearing from the younger man more because he is the one involved. But please make sure you are standing behind him during every interview so he isn't being misrepresented. This is very stressful for someone their age. They are NOT adults yet, but this can definitely help prepare them for it. Good luck and please keep us posted. |
Ok it's time to leave work. Time to go and join the other irrate Baseball parents. Maybe a little batting pratice is in order. :D lol. Actually we could have the march of the yorkie moms and have a little chat with the coach. Don't mess with a Yorkie Mom. I will let you know what happens later. Thanks for all your support. |
I honestly think I would make a big deal about this. SOunds like the new coach is trying to show off since he had mentioned he wouldn't feel bad about cutting seniors. I agree with what a way to show the seniors what you think about them. Sounds to me like the coach is saying who cares..... I would go give the coach and the principal an ear full. |

I don't think I could wait until after school because he risk the chance of the coach not being there to talk to also. If you catch them off guard they can cannot make up a BS reason for do what they did. |

And, when did I ever say not to support her son? If I were in that situation, saw my parents making a big scene out of this, I'd be SOOOO embarrassed. |
