| Bad dog!!! Just I was afraid of, Chiquito my Chihuahua, bit my next door neighbor on her hand!!. I was in the drive way, and my next door neighbor was taking her trash out. I had Chikis on his leash and was about to cross the street cause Chikis had already started barking at her when she asked me if she could pet him, I told her I was afraid that he could bite her, and I said, but if you want to try (I was thinking maybe he will be good and let her pet him) big mistake!!! as soon as she touched him he snapped at her and made her hand bleed. Needless to say, I was in shock and so embarrassed, I didn’t know what to do!!, but my neighbor told me not to feel bad that she had asked for it, not to let that ruin my day. Hers is not a big wound but, that doesn't stop me from feeling terrible,I feel really, really, really bad. What should I do with my neighbor? should I go and buy her a present or something nice? I just feel so guilty! Venus

| Eeks! Maybe Chiquito was scared of your neighbor and just wanted to protect you. You could buy her a small gift, I think it's a good thing you warned her beforehand. I don't think you should feel guilty at all, dogs like to protect their family and home. Perhaps in the future you might just want to state that he's not very social yet and that it's probably in their best interest not to pet Chiquito. |

| I would do anything in my power to make my neighbor forgive me and my dog for the bite, even if she said don't worry about it. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter if we warn people according to the law and if your neighbor reported the bite to animal control you and your little one could be in trouble, let alone a lawsuit. I would fix dinner or do something for her and try and keep it as casual as possible but let her know you feel really bad and will never let this happen again. I would offer to pay for her doctor visit if she goes to the doctor. I would also make sure all of your required shots are up to date. I am sorry this happened for you as I can tell you are very upset. These little ones can go into the fear bitter mode so easy and many times we are just as surprised. When another YT member came to my town we got together to meet each other and I brought 3 of my dogs. None of these dogs had ever bitten me but when Alison reached into the car to help get them out of their carseats Phoebe snapped at her. I was shocked but again learned a valuable lesson to never let a stranger or even someone I know go to pick up Phoebe. I hate this as much as you do.

| Thank you all for your support. I got my neighbor some flowers, a candle holder , some nice candles too( she loves candles) and a card with a dog on it that says I'm sorry and a cup of starbucks coffe . She loved all of that and she told me not to worry again, thankfully she didn't have to go to the doctor because it wasn't a big bite but, still I went to see her today gain and asked her how she was doing and she repeated me thata she was fine that I don't need to fell bad. Tha is very nice of her.

| Sounds like you handled it perfectly and I am sure your neighbor knows you feel really bad - that goes a long way with people.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | You both sound like wonderful neighbors...It sounds like maybe letting him be introduced slowely to someone may work better...I know when they're on their own turf they can be very protective. |

| If I lived closer, I'd let your dog bite me! You are so very generous and it sounds like you handled a sticky situation like a champ. |

I'm sure your neighbor understands and that was a very nice gesture buying her all those things.
