For all us OCD people. From reading the cleaning thread, I remembered before a thread about being anal, and there was alot of us listing things we did on it.. so for the newbies~ For all us Anal people list the strange ritual things we obsess over  Here is a FEW of mine, I'm sure I'll have more.. Can't go to bed with dishes in the sink. Trash cans have to be picked up immediately when the trash guys leave. I can't stand when neighbors grass is lower than mine. Sinks/ showers/ tubs have to be WHITE,,no gack build up. Mirrors have to be spotless. Hate doing windows, but they have to be streak free, takes FOREVER, for me. If I find a piece of anything on the floor, rather than pick it up, I'll sweep everywhere. Closet is totally organized, by seasons, color, fav's. Ok I'm gonna quit for now, since you all think I'm a nut job! |
Shouldn't you be cleaning something?!?!?! ;) I can't think of a single thing that I have to do to maintain my sanity. It all stays right in the same place 'til I get to it. |
Well, there's really only one thing I'm OCD about and that's my teeth. I brush them no less than 4-5 times a day, depending. I can't stand how my mouth feels after I eat, when I first get up, after I eat candy....I know, it does nothing for the enamal on my teeth but I can't stand it! Reminds me, I need to go brush my teeth :D |
I obsess over alarm clocks. I have to set two plus I set the alarm on my cell phone. I have a fear that I won't wake up on time. I get up about 7 times to check to make sure that they are all set for the correct time and they are all on. My Gracie has OCD, she is obsessed with licking. She likes to lick the back of people's hands. Drives me nuts! She licks my hands so much that they hurt sometimes! She will even go as far as to hold your hand down with her paws. It is crazy!!!!!! |
ok~ heres more.. I LOVE, those Clorox disinfecting wipes! Whenever random customers or even employees wanna use MY phone, I wipe like a crazy woman after they are done.. I don't want their ear gack on my ear! Also, my refrigerator, everything has to be in its place, irritates me to no end when people put things back in the wrong spot! has to be in its designated area. |
I am really picky about the toilet paper thing, it has to be hanging over the roll and not under the roll. It drives me crazy when I go somewhere and the tp is the wrong way. I am also like you I cant have any streaks or fingerprints on my mirrors. My husband is really anal about how the towels are folded they have to be folded the right way or he will refold them everytime. I have never seen a man that is so obsessive about towels! I am sure there are a few more but I cant think of them right now! |

The only thing that I can think of for me is that I like for all my glasses, silverware, dishes, and etc. to all be alike. I don't like mismatched dishes. Same goes with sheets. I don't like to have different pillowcases and sheets together. These don't help me keep my sanity (sanity's long gone!!). They are just my little quirks. |
EVERYTHING has it's place and SHOULD be there. Toilet and paper towl roll is suppose to go OVER. Beds are to be made...I cannot stand to walk into a bedroom to see the bed messy. |
Well alrighty then! Can't leave the house with dishes in the sink Can't leave the house without my downstairs bathroom clean Can't have dishes in the dishdrain No clutter anywhere Toilet paper has to be over not under Fringe on rugs, throws and pillows has to be neat Pillows on couches have to be a certain way Kids and dogs hair has to be neat :D No touching decorative towels Things on tables, end table and counters have to be a certain way. Have to make all the beds everyday Hate when people walk over my vacuum marks! |
After re-reading my post I think I shouldn't be on YorkieTalk I should be in therapy! |
After reading this, I'm thinking I should put a warning sign at my front door. "Warning! This home may short circuit OCD people." ;) :D |
I thought I was the only one who had the obsession about the toilet paper.. i hate when it's under! so if i'm at a friends house i'll go to each bathroom and change it so the tp is over  :D |

Btw, Carolyn, my OCD (actually she is OTT OCD...OVER THE TOP Obsessive Compulsive) friend purchased carpet which guaranteed...no footprints...I'm NOT kidding. This same friend....when they moved....literally took ALL the drawers out of her furniture and cleaned all the interiors....because she didn't wanna take any OLD dirt to her NEW house. Shoot, I bought new houses to get AWAY from the dirt :D Not really, I am not a piggy...but my fringe is ALL wrong  |
My mom is the worst at this!! I remember as kid it was almost like she would take the glass from you before you were done drinking to wash it! Oh & I think she scoops her cat box like 87 times a day! I swear she stands there with a scooper as they are peeing! :D haha! Anyways...I don't have many but the one thing I hate is if my husband puts stuff in the dishwasher in the wrong place! I have a place for everything in the dishwasher! :p I'm weird I know! He thinks I'm crazy! I don't really care which way the tp is going as long as there is some! :D |

I am with you on this one....Dishes should also be done so the sink is empty before bedtime. No mess anywhere is what I say. Then tomorrow I can start all over again...hahahaha |

You have just described my sister in law. I have literally seen her remove an ashtray and clean it because it contains ONE ash from someone who's STILL smoking the cigerette. You must remove your shoes in her house, they are NOT allowed to remain by the door, she has a "special" place for them. She owns every type mop, broom, sweeper, vac ever invented and uses them ALL. I'm pretty certain if food ever fell BEHIND or UNDERNEATH her fridge...it would still be safe to eat ;) And I bet all her fringe is straightened too :p Another OCD friend (help, I'm surrounded  ) constantly complains that her husband doesn't help her. Now he's told me...he doesn't help because whatever he does is never to her standards and she'll just do it over again. I've tried telling her....Pam, sweetie, "whatever" only bothers YOU...he could care less if it's dirty behind the fridge or the clean dishes STAY in the dishwasher yada, yada, yada. This gal has 3 children, a full time job, and exists on 3 hours of sleep a night...cause she's up cleaning or putting away. |

better! :D Ya know fringe is VERY important! ;) Where'd she get that carpet! :shocked7q |

I don't remember the brand the carpet was, but that's is the real reason she purchased it. I'm telling ya.... she, my sister in law, and girlfriend would all get along fabulously. They probably all cringe at my fringe  |

Ocd??? Ya all wanna move in here??? I have enough stuff around here to keep quite a bunch of prople BUSY!! Suz |

Btw, I do hang the toilet paper correctly, however, if someone has already replaced the roll backwards...I do not feel the "need" to turn it over :) We purchased our house from the "no footprint" carpet friend....I am POSITIVE she cringes whenever she walks into "her" old house....and that's on one of my clean days  |

Heres is the one my BF hates, when I bought my new couch it came with decorative pillows on it ( no zipper to add more stuffing, mind you) So NOONE can lay on them,, they will get flat , and I can't have a couch without the pillows that go with it.. So when BF comes over he FLOPS on couch (ughhh) then jams his elbow in the pillow and props himself up... So I then throw him the cheap boughten pillows to use instead,,he gets so irritated. and THROWS the good pillows down and uses the cheap ones.. SIGHHH, and all is right in the universe again. |

Ya'll would be best friends, cause she would never, ever step on carpet with fresh vacuum marks and she'd admire that fringe :) |
Ok here it goes. I am borderline neurotic---good thing my husband likes things neat and orderly!! :p ;) my ocd nerosis is based around uniformity. Most everything has to be even numbers. And if I am stressed it gets worse. So you can only imagine the last few months...... Here are a few because let's face it you all don't have all day!! ;) ~toilet paper ALWAYS goes over never under ~No using decorative towels-ever these are for guests only-this could be punishable by death..... ;) ~for that matter unless you are a guest you better just stay outta of the guest bathroom ~I like to keep vacuum marks (and they all have to be going a certain way) on the rugs then I know they are clean ~silverware has to be stacked in drawer, put in dish drainer and dishwasher a certain way ~Dishwasher must be loaded a certain way ~anything in pantry have to be labels facing out and grouped together based on likeness-ie green beeans and green peas have to be together b/c they are green, snack shelf, cooking shelf, spice shelf, breakfast shelf ~milk has a specific place in fridge as well as everything else has it's specific spot in the fridge ~chairs around dinner table have to be a certain way ~towels and hand towels and wash wrags must be folded a certain way and color cordinated as well if there are 2 blue then there must be 2 yellow, etc. ~shoes in closet must be one toe facing out and one heel facing out so you can see the hill and toe so you can pick which one you want to wear easier ~clothes are hung color cordinated as well as short sleeve are together and long sleeve are together and work clothes are seperate. ~clothes drawers are divided into catergories as well ~I won't even address the way things are washed and dried-you definetly don't have time for that ~in the morning the all the blinds in the house have to be a certain way ~I have a routine for the shower, getting dressed and getting ready- I get all crazy and forget things if they are done out of sequence I have a specific routine for everyday of the week. I am a very habitual person now. I think that I lacked normalcy and control groing up(my parents were kinda hippies) so now I am a control freak--I am learning to give/relinquish some of that control so I don't go crazy. So now you know if you didn't b4 I am a crazy women :p |
Ok~ I have got to stop this,,, BUT, I think I remember where this obsession stems from, my mom is neat but not a fanatic, YET I remember my grandma wiping the water drops out of her sink! Now I Don't do that. |
