Neighbor's dog killed our cat today

I'm so sorry to hear about this. Please also talk to your children about staying away from that Pit Bull if you haven't already. It could be a sign of it's temperment....

Believe me I thought about it when Gus got attacked! We don't own a gun but we do have a bebe gun that I'm very good with. I was so ready to use it if that damn dog came in my yeard again.

Thats just TERRIBLE!! Im so sorry to hear this, its very traumatic for a kid to have to witness his pet being attacked and im sure it would be for anybody, i hope your son will be able to deal with it in time, please give him extra big hugs from us and kisses from the girls Poor kid i feel so bad for him!

I am so sorry about your cat. Have you spoke to you neighbor's about the dog's temperment, because it sound like he/she is dangerous if it has already killed small animals? Hope you kids are doing okay!! Rocky sends yorkie kisses to them!!!

Gosh, I am sooo sorry for your loss..I can only imagine what it was like to witness that tragedy...That poor kitty is in heaven now, and I know it's going to be hard for you and your kids.
As far as the pit that attacked your kitty, I would be soo scared of it attacking your small doggies and your kids! It sounds like the pit is not to be trusted at all. I hope you let your neighbors know what happened, so they can get their dog under control.

Oh sweetie, it is NOT your fault. Outside cats are miserable inside all the time and they make everyone else miserable. I know, I tried it. I know my neighbors comment on my cat roaming around, but what is he gonna hurt, other than himself, he Loves going out, so I allow him.. If something ever happens I know I'll feel the guilt, but the idea of him never going out again kills me and would him.
Let your kids mourn their pet, and have a funeral, and I'm sure they will get through it,.. It breaks my heart that you all had to witness it. I can't even imagine. I'm crying just thinking of those poor kids..

Their dogs have got out before when they first moved in and I had a fit about it, they killed all our chickens. (They have 2 labs, as well as this pitbull) We talked to them and told them we have children and small dogs and that could just never happen again. We filed a report on them as well. They are actually very nice people and they paid my husband for the chickens and such. They installed electric fencing all around their property and fixed all the fencing. The dogs have never been out again. I am torn about what to do about this pitbull. He always attacks the fence at my dogs and this just proves to me that he really will attack other animals. I don't believe in punishing a dog for doing what's natural to them, but I really am scared from what I witnessed today. The dog tore our cat apart, what if Tinkerbell or Chloe ever get out?

We are going to go to Michael's today and buy one of those kits to make a memorial stone. I think that will help.

This Pit Bull sounds more then very dangerous ! It is so unfortunate that People breed/train dogs to be so vicious....it is against their nature.
I would not ignore this. As bad as this incident was..the poor cat and the poor kids...just imagine....it could be your Yorkie babies or your Human children. Since you already have a complaint on record I would surely follow it up. How horrific a sight to witness for all of you. So sorry....

How horrible, I am so sorry. I hope that your son is doing ok. Please give him a hug from us. I think a funeral is a wonderful idea.
I too would be very concerned about my kids and dogs with this horrible animal next door. I think you should also file a report with animal controll. This dog has not only killed your chickens but your son's cat also. Something more needs to be done to controll this animal before he hurts anything or anyone else. I know that you said that you do not think it is right to punish an animal because he is just doing what is natural to him, but what if it becomes natural to him to harm your child????
