Didn't realize that the Acetaldehyde is even more toxic than the alcohol itself. I wonder if even you don't get flushed you still get those toxins? That's some scary stuff. We always just joked that some people just turn more red more quickly. Had no idea it was an actual condition.

| Uni did for sure. I actually still don't have much energy. I just sat in front of the tv all day yesterday. In the morning bf and I went grocery shopping to several stores plus Costco and it really wore me out. At the hospital I just laid in bed all day so when it came time to walk I had the energy for a short walk, but the grocery shopping was hard. No energy for zoomies just yet. Also when physical therapy came, we just did a flight of stairs up and down and I was fine. But at home we have three floors so I am constantly going up and down, esp taking the dogs outside. My calves are so sore and tired! I have not been sleeping well either, which sucks. My bed is so comfy but I just can't find the right position to sleep. I had the nurses give me a sleeping aid when I was in the hospital, thinking I couldn't sleep bc I wasn't at home, or was stressed, sick, etc and I think it has made me dependent. If it's not one thing, it's another. But I'm not going to find something else to help me sleep, I just have to get back to my routine. But I have been having short strange dreams. One I remembered from last night was eating dungeness crab on a boat. I saw on the news not to eat crab from CA due to some kind of toxic algae and I love crab so I guess I dreamt about that.

| I'm not 100% on this but I think I read that people with Asian flush always turn red- face, neck, chest, arms down to the wrist... looks similar to getting sun burned. With the condition, alcohol is processed 100x faster than the average person but the body lack the enzymes to break down Acetaldehyde to harmless Acetate. I want to add I also read that some people with Asian flush jokingly call it the bar tan. ![]() The same time you were in hospital, DH was already out of work for two weeks waiting for back surgery. After the surgery he also found it difficult to get comfortable. What helped with sleep was positioning a bunch of pillows keeping his spine aligned and keeping pressure off certain points. When he slept on his side, 3 extra pillows was used- one between the knees, small one between the ankles and one in front against his chest for him to hug like a teddy bear. On his back, 2 extra pillows- one underneath the small of his back and one underneath his knees. I know it's not the same, he didn't go through your pancreatitis, but I thought I put it out there....guessing it doesn't hurt to try especially if you can catch some Zzz's which is what one needs to heal. Get well soon Priscilla!

| I'm sure back surgery is a pretty big deal! I'm glad I avoided surgery. They were at one point thinking of putting me thru surgery to remove the damaged part of my liver or pancreas? Scary stuff. Yeah I have been using extra pillows, even stealing Uni's cloud 9! I like to use that between my knees. But I can't stay still in one position. As soon as I close my eyes to sleep my body shakes me and I wake back up. But I can fall asleep in front of the tv no prob. It's when I get into bed that is the problem. And my bed is so comfy! Bf was getting annoyed at my constant stirring. Made him not be able to sleep and he is quitting drinking too so it's not like he's falling asleep very easily either.

| Stealing Uni's Cloud 9, lol! Love it. I'm so glad you escaped having surgery. I can imagine how sore you are and that it will take some time to rebuild your strength and endurance. Was it weird being out and seeing the world again?

| Yeah, really weird being out in the real world again. As soon as we got home, I saw one of our neighbors walking her dog. I usually chat with her but totally avoided her, just said hi and that's it. Just too tired and don't want to explain to everyone I see why I'm so exhausted. And then my plants! My chili plant that had blooms falling off right and left now has about 10 chilis on it. My meyer lemon had two small green lemons that were dormant for the longest time. I come back and they are getting big and finally turning yellow. And get this, my dying tomato plant is sprouting again and with a bloom coming in! I guess it was too hot for a while, but now it's pretty damn cold. 40s for the low, which when I went to the hospital it was 90s high and 70s low. I missed the entire transition month. Well, the weather transitions really quick here in Vegas, but still. Yeah, just might sleep on the couch with the tv on tonight. LOL The couch is pretty comfy too actually.

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I really feel for ya, darlin'...still so much healing to go through and strength to get back...and things to catch up on...but you *will* get there eventually. You will feel better/normal again. But I know it's hard right now, going through all these random leftovers from the illness. Who knew it would entail SO much, and for so long too, ya know? But you're on the mend, and that's just huge!

I bet anything feels comfortable compared to that hospital bed. Are you strong enough to go tend to your plants? I know you're really proud of those.

| Kind of. But I just don't feel up to it. I haven't really done anything to them yet, except pick off the flower buds on my Thai basil plant. The indoor ones died bc bf didn't water them. The outside ones are watered on a timer so they are doing fine.

| Thanks again to everyone, esp those who sent cards, flowers, stuffed animals. I finally got around to putting away stuff from my hospital bag and sorted and re-read through all my cards. These aren't even all of them. I have another stack that bf put somewhere. I really appreciate all of them! Also my sister sent me this pic of me after I got sprung from ICU. This was about one week before I got sent to the second hospital. IMAG2725_1.jpg IMG_5729.jpg

| We are all so thankful for your recovery. You look good in the bed even with all the tubes and monitors.

| I bet at that point you didn't think the second hospital was going to be so crappy. I'm glad you're home now! Kaji gets his stitches removed tomorrow. I just need a bit more time adjusting to my new job, (different pay schedules) Kaji and I can't wait to visit!!

| Hope you like your new job better than your old one! Yeah the second place was so old and run down. There was dead was mouse outside my window for the entire week I was there and no one cleaned it up. Funny thing was it was right outside a door! I guess no one used that door? Can't wait till you and Kaji come to visit!
