Jenner and kardashians :thumbdown Perhaps, this has been posted before. Maybe, I should have made a poll. Is anyone else tired of the media force feeding this family down our throats? |
I was tired of it 5 years ago... I'm starting to not even visit sites like Yahoo! because EVERY day there are multiple "news items" about the family. I have yet to find anyone from my generation (I'm 27) who does not worship the group they all walk on... I just don't get it. |
Yahoo is the worst about multiple stories on them |
So over hearing about this trashy family. Now we get to read about Kim and her pregnancy for months. Bruce Jenner is my only brush with a famous person. In the 80's the company I worked for hired him to come to Decatur, IL and star in an ad they were working on for the company's 150 year anniversary. I got to meet him and have a picture taken with him. It was the most uncomfortable meeting I could imagine. His face looked like if he got within 10 feet of a heat source it would melt and he was so rude and had the "I am better than you" attitude worse than anyone I had every met. I used to think he was so handsome but after meeting him I couldn't stand him anymore. Don't understand what people see in this family, wish someone would enlighten me. |
The Kardashians can TOTALLY just drive me nuts bc the media is so over saturated with them and they just ride that family name in any / every way they can...which I think sadly epitomizes so much that is wrong today in "celebrity". I will say though, I completely admire the courage of Caitlyn (formerly Bruce) Jenner for going through her transition transparently and publicly. Some will poo-poo this as just more publicity and/or stunts -- but in this case, we really do need to look past that automatic urge and look at the bigger picture of what is happening here in the public eye. I believe in fully respecting another's gender identity bc who am I to know better, do better, or judge their experience? Only *they* can know whether or not they "feel" like a man or a woman, or feel they are in the wrong body. I can't even *fathom* the insane confusion and pain one must feel if/when they actually feel they were born into the wrong gender. Can you imagine? I don't know how any of us could imagine it unless we've been through it. I hope Caitlyn Jenner's journey fosters discussions, encourages more open mindedness, encourages ACCEPTANCE, and in the end....hopefully could even save lives as the suicide rate of transgender people is so terribly high. And btw, did anyone see the pics of Caitlyn on Vanity Fair and/or the behind the scenes video of the photo shoot??? I mean, WOW. Stunning. She really does look stunning. I hope for the very best for her during this journey/transition and I do hope the transition brings all the hoped for happiness to her life. |
I can tell you that if the K family lived in my neighborhood people would be trying to get them out not trying to keep up with this trashy slutty family. |

I can't stand reality tv at all, the closest I'll get is stuff like project runway. |
I lost track of how many stories Yahoo is running on this right now! https://celebrity.yahoo.com/news/cos...224452795.html |
I've never watched a whole episode of the Kardashians and trust me I love junk tv, but I just don't understand the appeal of these girls. I do love Bruce and I wish he wasn't associated with them if people aren't going to try to understand the pain he's been in and think it's just for ratings. It breaks my heart that people have to suffer like this. I've known I was a "girl" from a really young age, and I too would want my body to reflect that. I wish Caitlyn all the happiness in the world, the only thing I'm ticked off about it she's so much hotter than me! |

And I think it is Inside Edition advertising "THE" story on how Bruce decided on the name "Caitlyn"........big woo.....jaw dropping, riviting, inspiritional TV, for sure..... I do pray after living his entire life as a girl in a boy's body, and enduring all the "stuff" that involved, I pray she can NOW get on with life, living like most of us live, from day to day, one step at a time, and not finding it necessary to chronicle and record for history/prosperity/posterity, every single step she takes forward, accompanied with details to justify every decision or choice she makes from now on....but I am fearful she is now tapping into whatever the "magic" that is the fabric of the "Kardashian Coat Tail" that has kept the rest of the clan front page headliners, turning a profit on every thought or move they make..... Just live your life like you want, and leave the rest of the entire world out of it! The majority could care less how you think it necessary to validate or justify your existance.......Suffice it to say you are a Child of God (or whatever you believe in) and owe no one any cause/effect ratios for why you do what you do, think what you think, live like you live, believe like you believe, etc. Just live your life and leave us out of it!!! |
I just don't understand how the american people buy into their "TRASH". There are far more important things in this country to be worrying about besides Bruce Jenner & the Kardashians |
There are plenty of transgender kids who commit suicide because they feel like such freaks. I think Bruce is an excellent role model, and if I had a child or grandchild that was going through this, I would think something like this could help him feel more normal and help the through a difficult journey. I've heard that the Kardashians weren't that happy about Bruce talking about it and said it might hurt their "brand", but now seem to be supporting him/her because it's would hurt them more not to support him. I hope he's getting support from them because it's the right thing to do. |
I would like to see parents and the churches the families belong to, whatever their faith, provide support and counseling and therapy to kids that are having suicidal proclivities because of issues they may be having in their personal lives, as well as support for kids that can not see beyond bullying from other kids. Movie stars/athletes/humans of all walks of life, always seem to fall drastically short in the "role model" character.....families that know their kids, should be much better able to recognize and deal with issues they may have. I think if I had a child that was having such issues, I would certainly stress that there are systems in place to provide emotional help/therapy/counseling for whatever issue my child was conflicted over. I would especially steer him clear of celebs that are able to successfully develop their conflict into a money making agenda .....I think Caitlyn should now devote her time to traveling all around the country, volunteering her time to privately talk to transgender support groups, churches, schools, and the people that are directly affected with this concern.....I think that would certainly help more than living the rest of her life as a "cause celeb".... "Bruce Jenner who became Caitlyn" basking directly in the public eye....we all know about it, congratulations that you were able to resolve your issue, and now just be Caitlyn....not "Caitlyn that used to be Bruce". Hopefully, this will make Caitlyn happy and fulfilled and complete, and more issues/concerns/problems wont surface and continue to torment him/her. I wonder if he underwent years of psychological therapy to determine if his conflict was based completely in his transgender issue, or if there were other issues that were wrecking havoc in his life and life choices. |
As long as people click the link on the net, buy a magazine or watch something with them on it, this will continue. |
Hm, I was torn on rather or not I was going to post on this thread .. I do not know the Kardashians, personally, so I can't really make any valid judgments regarding their 'personalities' since what we see of them isn't confirmation of their true identities but what they project in the name of entertainment. And, whilst I hope that Caitlyn is now coming to terms with whatever struggles she felt she has had to undergo for years, I would caution against anyone considering her a role model. Our society, at large, has come to be more accepting of deviations from stereotypes regarding gender identity and so I believe she was fortunate to live in this time so that she could make the transition with less stigma than what she may have faced thirty years ago. Still, no one is perfect and no one is a hero for others though they can be congratulated for moving forward from any personal issues very publicly. I worry that people look up to celebrities (strangers) too much for validation of their personal decisions and finding out that this 'hero' is a person with flaws and faults can be devastating for people who struggle with their own identities. I, personally, do not view Caitlyn as a hero or a good role model. I view Caitlyn as I do any other celebrity/person which is to say I hope they are living the life they want, are doing no harm to others and I wish them the best. I see us, though, as the heroes. We have developed as a World society and we are progressing towards a humanity which is not accepting of everything but we are certainly less polar regarding other's benign choices, feelings, emotions and situations which may or may not align with our own. That is a beautiful thing to witness, in my opinion, since I value harmony and intelligence over all things. :) (and cake) |

I enjoy certain tv shows movies etc. as far as what goes on in an entertainers personal life, I could care less. Jenner was an athlete. What few acting roles he was in were terrible. I don't wish the family any bad thoughts. The public at large are responsible for creating this. This will be the top story until the next bizarre story takes it's place |

I was wondering exactly what and where she was going with all this journey into her "truth and liberation", and I heard last night about the reality TV show she has in the works..... ......pass the cake please, SirTeddykins!!... |
Oh, and then this, just hot off the presses.......speaking fees have skyrocketed!! "Caitlyn Jenner Five Times More Valuable than Bruce" Bruce used to get $25,000.00.....Caitlyn commands over $100,000.00!!! This group certainly knows how to parlay money into MUCH MORE money!!!! |

Regarding your second paragraph...it's interesting you mention this angle bc there is a lot talk about the almost-guaranteed co-morbidities that accompany trans folks in their lives; it's no small issue for sure and you have to wonder what role the co-morbidities play in the larger picture of their overall mental health. Um, I'll second CAKE. And third it. Fine, fourth it. I don't necessarily think we have to frame Caitlyn Jenner as a "hero", per se. I view her as a public person/celebrity going thru a very remarkable change amidst a *very* sensitive subject while in the public eye. What she's going through is bound to be polarizing, on soooo many levels bc of the nature of her change --- and I have to admire the courage of anyone who is willing to face the world head-on, publicly, while going thru something like this....if for no other reason than to see it help others and foster discussion (whether or not that's their primarily goal). If there are some people out there who view her as an actual hero -- more power to them. We all should have the right to choose who is heroic to us, I think. To each their own. :) |

Yes, I do agree to a large extent but that probably didn't come across as well as I'd hoped when I posted at 4 a.m. In short, I worry about anyone who seeks validations for and through others because, ultimately, they find out that the person(s) they have framed in whatever context let them down by being human and they have nowhere to fall, then. I am trying very hard to promote self-awareness and self-esteem and teach young people that these things come from within. Not everyone will like us, agree with us, love us, care about us and so not everyone can 'save' us. Eventually, we have to do that for ourselves or we risk pitfalls like addiction, for example. Or, one could struggle so many years, like Caitlyn, by trying to do whatever everyone else thought they should do or be what others felt they should be.. That is not a good situation for anyone to be in, ever. As far as her doing her thing publicly, as I stated above, I hope that whatever personal issues are finally at rest or at least on the road to recovery. As far as the reality shows...I don't know about all that.. I guess people make their money in the way they know how.. that's beyond the scope of my cognizance right now...lol |
I don't think the woman that Bruce Jenner rear ended and killed would look at him as a role model. |
I agree. |
Are they even going to charge him for it? |

At the very least it's a failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident where I live. Vehicular homicide is a crime that, in general, involves the death of an individual other than the driver as a result of either criminally negligent or murderous operation of a vehicle. The former case and the more common conviction of unintentional vehicular homicide is known as vehicular manslaughter. |
