| I have TV channels! So, this may not be a big deal to those of you that have cable or satellite tv and tons of tv channels, but I now have seven tv channels! I cancelled cable tv shortly after my youngest went away to college four years ago. It just didn't seem worth the expense as I worked a few jobs, and primarily watched British tv shows via the internet when I was home anyway. I bought a $10 RCA antenna at Walmart today, and it gives me seven channels; four local, one country music (that will never get played) and two PBS! I am so excited! I get to watch The Voice final tonight! Got no idea who the people are that made it this far...but I get to watch it! Woot! Woot! Woot! Thought I'd share that it works great and it was only a one time $10 purchase!

| Congratulations! I watch my shows online, so I could live without a tv and cable. The only reason we have it is dad likes NASCAR, history shows, and a weather channel.

| Ha! My Dad lives for NCIS and the weather channel! What is it with Dads and the weather channel? I'm always teasing him that he should have been a meteorologist.

| My great grandmom has a cheap antenna and she gets like 50 channels. We wanted to get rid of cable and use an antenna and netflix, but my grandmom hates netflix, so we're probably going to scale back to basic cable and netflix instead. |

| We bought a higher end indoor antennae. We get lots of channels we would never watch, but the main ones we got are Fox, ABC, NBC, CW, PBS, and Create which has a lot of cooking and travel shows. But no Travel, Food Network, etc bc those are cable. I refuse to pay for cable in the triple digits. Internet is expensive enough already as it is, almost $50/mo. We also pay $7/mo for Netflix but we don't use it much. They hardly have anything unless it's current, which you could watch it online. But it's just so cheap at $7/mo it seems dumb to cancel it.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I am thinking of cancelling my satellite TV as well. We are not watching TV and at about $100 monthly it just seems such a waste. Can any dummy hook up an antenna?

You literally, screw the antennae to the base. Unhook the cable cord from the tv and hook the antenna cord in its place. Extend the arms of the antenna and then scan for channels. The time it took to scan for channels was the longest part of the whole process. So easy! I too was paying $100 for basic cable which just provided the same local channels I can now get, plus shopping & religious channels that I would never watch. ($130 for basic plus, $160 to get any channels I'd actually want to watch like HGTV, $200for premium package to get the football/soccer channel, HBO, Showtime, etc. that I'd like to have). I couldn't justify the cost for just me, who worked so much. This antenna is great! Wish I'd discovered it earlier!

Sometimes you have to rescan. And when you do, you might lose a channel or two, so you have to scan again. It's a pain but it's worth not having to pay $100+ a month. I think I've only had to rescan less than 5 times since we've had the antennae in about 6 months.

| Do you all have a Roku? I watch that more than regular cable and we are thinking of cutting the cable in 2015. Regarding elders watching the Weather Channel - let me tell you my Uncle LOVES the Weather Channel and some crazy channel that shows Murder She Wrote like 4 times in a row, daily, everyday YIKES!!!

Now the Golden Girls I LOVE, Murder She Wrote I could maybe watch one episode but he LOVES that show and will watch it over and over and over. I guess I can't talk, I watch Nick at Nite every night and have seen every episode of Friends at least 20 times. What is that channel he is watching with the Murder She Wrote? Also why is the crime rate so high in the little town of Cabin Cove?
