Do you feel anything when watching/reading ghost stories?

Every time I read a ghost story or when I watch a ghost movie, I will start to feel very dizzy and sickly. Does anyone else feel the same?

Is it just ghost stores that make you feel this way, or do other types of movies and books make you feel this way? To answer your question, no, I never feel dizzy or sickly when reading or watching, but sometimes I feel scared.

No, I don't feel that reading a story but I used to live in a house that I believe was haunted and I can't really describe how I felt. I think mostly denial..this can't really be happening....more than actual fear or panic.

Only ghost stories...I was reading up about the real Anabelle doll story the other day and I got really dizzy out of the blue...today I was reading the ghost stories thread on yt and it happened again. Like spinning dizziness out of the blue. It also happens when I watch documentary shows on haunted places etc. I read about a haunted painting the other day where the child supposedly leaves the painting sometimes?? and I felt nauseated for quite a while after...Granted I don't dare to watch haunted movies anymore...I'm not really afraid just feel physically unwell...weird huh.

Strange, I would think it would happen with other scary movies as well, but it may be that you think ghost stories could be "true" and that could cause more anxiety than just your run of the mill horror story where you think there is no way such a thing could ever happen. I believe it's possible for spirits to communicate with us and some are not good, and I also believe in the Holly spirit and that's the only one I want to talk to!

I sometimes get scared...especially if it's close to bedtime and if my husband is out of town. But, I haven't ever felt dizzy or nauseous. It almost sounds like you're having some sort of flashback, or re-living something....do you think you saw a ghost as a kid or something maybe?

But I was totally, seriously affected by the original Amityville film www.amityvillehorror.com

Even now, all these (many!) years later - if I wake up in the middle of the night and it's 3.15 a.m.... I shut my eyes really tight, won't get up even if I need the loo, and still get in a bit of a state....and remember that that's happened during the night

YES!!!!!! And I don't know why....nothing, and no other film, has ever affected me like that one!!!

Been to Leeds Castle, the Tower of London, and (as you say!) all the ghostly, witchy-poo places over here....but it's still, always, the Amityville one that 'haunts' me....

For many years, I was completely terrified of the Exorcist girl! I would close my eyes and see her behind my eyelids and imagine she was at the end of my bed.


THANKFULLY, I outgrew that fear at the ripe old age of 25! But, I've never felt sick to my stomach or anything when confronted with haunting stories, etc. As I no longer align myself with my childhood beliefs, I also have no belief in ghosts etc. but I remember when I did and I can certainly sympathize with the immediate and lasting effects of being terrified!

That was the first book I read that completely scared the heck out of me. I had to put it down it was so scary. The movie absolutely blew my mind. I never did "outgrow" the fear of that.

Nancy, I've decided I'm a bit of a wuss....I actually threw the book of 'The Shining' away when I was on honeymoon (WHY was I reading that on honeymoon?!!!?)

I do not like scary movies but have never become dizzy or whatnot. Which ghost thread where you reading? I've started a couple and just love talking about ghosts
