Doctor In NYC just confirmed with Ebola

If a person is in the health profession they should know about this virus and have enough sense to stay home. I am heartbroken over the man from Canada shot dead, he was a dog lover and his dogs are waiting for him to come home. The school shootings, the deputies dead in Sacramento, terrorist with an ax, meningitis and ebola. We need God's hand of mercy as this world gets worse every day. I pray all those people exposed to this virus will be shielded from it. Life is precious and I wish people would respect the lives of others. No reason for that doctor to run around town. He should have known better.

Why do you keep posting this in every off topic thread lately? We're talking about ebola. Why you keep insisting on bringing up God and religion and other world problems is beyond me.... but I'm pretty sure it's against YT's rules.

Meningitis has been around a very long time, maybe as far back as 400 B.C., in the time of Hippocrates. Bacterial meningitis almost killed me 44 years ago. Thankfully I was born after the discovery of penicillin.

Regarding the world getting worse, I believe people in previous centuries had it much rougher in terms of violence, war, crime and disease. I would not have wanted to live in the Middle Ages, for instance.

I do look at things like Washington, DC and think how in 1976, every American could waltz into the Capitol and visit their representatives' offices without an appointment. Now we can't get close to the Capitol without a special visitors pass and going through major security.

On the other hand, hard to believe that Aaron Burr, our 3rd Vice President, killed Alexander Hamilton, one of our founding fathers and Secretary of the Treasury in a duel. 1804 in the United States and civilized men!

We have our challenges right now, but I do not think the world is getting worse.

Exactly! It always amuses me when people think our world is sooo horrible today. Is it different than it was 30-40 years ago? Of course. And yes there are some things that are worse than what they used to be. But overall, throughout the span of time, a lot of really crappy things have happened. And I am just not sure it's fair to label today's world as such a horrible place. If anything, it's always been pretty shi*ty and we just have to make the best of it

I also think 24 hour news and media outlets make it seem a lot worse. The only difference is things weren't talked about throughout the whole world 24/7 15+ years ago.

I should clarify, I do not mean to make light of the wars, terrorist attacks, or any loss of life today. Our value of human life is another huge topic of discussion. Humans are imperfect and do a lot of stupid things, big and small, whether it is war or not paying attention while driving a car.
