Just checking out this DIY concrete countertop overlay method - too cool! She just layered the concrete on top of her already existing countertops. Brilliant. I just love the look of concrete countertops. Although, I've heard mixed reviews on using concrete for countertops...does anyone have them? If so, do they wear well / clean well / stain? Although I like the concrete better, I had always thought the cherry wood would be so nice as well. I can see here, it needs more tender loving care than I would have thought. http://http://theinspiredroom.net/20...pros-cons-faq/ |

Concrete Counter Tops To Die For. Concrete Countertop Design Ideas, Pictures, Remodel and Decor I absolutely hate the black first picture but love the rest. I love the picture on the first page near question 7 with the fry pan and another pot with the onion and pepper to the left:) The entire design with chairs and all would be something I could live with. But I love the modern grey concrete equally as well. I sure hope this link works for you Ann. |

Peeps, I have a question...you know I recently bought an industrial type cart thingy for an outdoor 'bar cart' or whatnot. The top is wood, but the rest of it is metal. It's dry here in Phx, but things still rust easily and I'm worried the metal part is going to rust. Will it? Do you have outdoor metal pieces and if so, what do you do to prevent rust? I don't want to paint it w/ rust proof paint bc I don't want it colored. I wonder if Rustoleum's Rust Inhibitor spray would work? Anyone use it or have any advice? Maybe I should've stuck w/ wood, darn. |
UGH! I went out back this morning to let out the dogs and water some plants. One plant lost all its leaves. Then I look closer and there are two fat as hell catapillars munching on it! That was a plant that MIL gave us when we moved. I swear when one of them saw me it stopped eating and like he was pretending to try to blend in. I wanted to squish them but didn't want to deal with the mess. So I put them in a plastic poop bag and tossed them in the trash (away from my house!). What can I do about them? The nurseries here sell praying mantis eggs. Maybe I should get some. Also something ate some of my tomato plant. All the leaves are gone on a few branches. I saw a bunny the other night so maybe it was him. |

I second Rustoleom, that stuff is GREAT and tough. When I lived in Michigan (the land of rust) my Uncle used to have a can of black Rustoleom always. Needless to say everything outside was a nice matte black. In Georgia we deal with the rust also, I recommend a sealer with anything you paint that will be outside. We have a black iron fence along the front of our yard, it is beginning to show signs of rust so I know I will need to get out my Uncles old stand by. |
1 Attachment(s) I forgot to post this but I bought a futon at a rummage sale for the rescue where I volunteer (deal $25.00). I put it in my office and now Sophie Kate thinks this is her new bed, I have to almost drag her off it to go outside. |

Has anyone had any success painting clear totes? Like the container store shoe boxes? I can't find any pretty storage that isn't $$, and opaque containers would look much less messy. I was thinking of trying krylon fusion, but I'd rather have a brush on paint. |
Painting plastic you have to use a primer AND plastic paint. I don't know of a non spray plastic paint. Otherwise it will just scrape right off. I've painted a few Nerf guns with success using primer and plastic spray paint, and I've had them a few year posing and taking them in and out of holsters and the paint is still on there good. |

The krylon stuff claims you don't need a primer. |
Oh, so I found four more caterpillars on my tomato plants. Pretty much decimated my plants. I hope they can recover. I knew something was eating them but couldn't find anything. The other day I sat out there for a few minutes looking at the plants until finally I could see one, then another, then another! I found four. They are now in worm hell. |
