4 Attachment(s) Tea cart Attachment 404409 With one of the flaps up. The glass tray lifts off and the handle folds down. Attachment 404410 Didn't get a before pic, but this was the ugliest brown frame with brown velvet trim. I repainted and distressed it, and found another frame (trashed that one) with the owl pic and the glass from that one fit perfectly. The owls are reflective foil like material. The frame was $2 and the owls were $3. Attachment 404411 This is so weird I had to get it. I wonder about the dog and the owner and why he had the tie framed. I like the frame and I will paint it, but the tie, what should I do? I don't want to throw it away. Unfortunately the glass is not glass, it's plastic. This was $3. Attachment 404412 |
Frak! LOL I forgot about the dresser and mirror. We are heading out now for a few yards sales. Wish us luck. I'll post those later. |

On the tie...what if you try to sell it on ebay...then, it may find a good / appreciative home or something? |
1 Attachment(s) Made a little sign for our house :D. Think I'll use this about 27x today...? |
2 Attachment(s) That little sign is so funny Ann! So I've been lazy the last few days, and had a few events I got to attend thru Yelp. Last night had a paired four course meal hosted by Rick Moonen that took like 3 1/2 hours, and the night before the Cirque show Ka. So I got my pics a while ago but finally got around to uploading. This is the dresser we got for $200. I believe this is made in the US. It's super heavy. This was from the lady (byb) that was selling akita pups for $500. Attachment 404478 This we got from another guy for $40. Ignore the mess in the reflection. Attachment 404479 Also we happened across an Aaron Bros last week that was closing down. We went on their second day of everything 90% off so we got $1000 worth of frames for $100. |

No ties or quilting for me. I doubt anyone would really bid on the tie on ebay and I wouldn't bother with listing it on CL. It's hard enough to sell normal stuff on CL without having to deal with bots and scammers. |
4 Attachment(s) We installed our Sputnik chandelier in our dining room this weekend, woo hoo!!! I also bought a starburst mirror, took out the mirror, and turned it into a ceiling medallion for the Sputnik - and I think the medallion totally completes the look and is a nice finish/accent. |
3 Attachment(s) Couple more detail pics... |
Wow, great idea about the mirror as a ceiling medallion! I wonder if there is a way to cover the gap between the mount of the light and the medallion? We put up this carving thing on the wall with screws similar you how to put up the medallion and I was thinking of markering or painting the screw heads to kind of blend them in. Wondering if yours are noticeable? I only saw it bc you included that close up. We will be putting in new wall scones soon. I'm repainting them right now. They finally went on sale at Lowe's so we picked up three. This is the before. http://www.lowes.com/pd_234987-41800-26966-014_0+1z0y09b__?productId=50188141&Ntt=interior+wa ll+sconces&pl=1¤tURL=%3FNtt%3Dinterior%2Bwall%2Bsc onces%26page%3D1&facetInfo=Candle Hmmm that's interesting, it's not on sale online. Also we went to another location and it wasn't on sale there. BTW your house looks like a freaking model home! |

I saw a similar ceiling medallion online...one was $80, one was $300! Mine was $29.99 :D. |
4 Attachment(s) I finished painting the scones a few days ago and bf installed them yesterday. I'm pretty happy with how they came out. I really wanted the flicker lightbulbs but they were overpriced IMO so we got the mini flame ones. Before, white factory paint job. Attachment 404798 After, three color faux patina, plus I added candle drippings with a glue gun. (Shhh! don't tell anyone I own a glue gun! LOL) Attachment 404799 Attachment 404800 Attachment 404801 We will eventually paint the walls but don't know what color yet. |

Love the sconces! They really came out beautiful!! Love that idea of the glue gun...I have two myself...large and small. It really made it look so real! The painting of it turned out so great! :) |

I hate having to use glue to hold things together bc eventual it always fails. But for the fake wax drips I think it worked well. |

I've also just discovered this stuff, which looks totally FUN for rusticating things: Don't get me going on glue. I have a little bin and in there I must have like 12 different glues -- all supposed to the best glue EVER; only half the time, they don't work at all! I recently did use a polyurethane glue (like liquid nails) and wow, that stuff rocks...it's like construction adhesive. It doesn't dry clear though or anything and wouldn't really be that great on really small stuff. |

As for glue, yeah I hate how they all say the best ever, and it's not. I esp hate people who use glue in millinery. That's like the first rule, never use glue unless you are putting on rhinestones without drill holes. Everything should be sewn by hand. I feel like using glue is cheating. |
3 Attachment(s) So I don't think I posted these here, but I did on my FB. This is what I got so far on the reupholstery project. I think I'm going to try to dye the original trim and see if it takes. It's poly so usually it doesn't take dye, but I'll try bc I don't want to buy more trim. There is a shop in town that is closing and we got a ton of fabric for $3/yd so I don't want to buy trim at regular price for like probably $6/yd. Attachment 404837 Also I made this faux stained glass a few weeks ago. Don't remember if I posted this, but this was originally the dog tie frame. Attachment 404838 Attachment 404839 Remember when I said I thought the glass on this was plexiglass? It's actually glass, but it was just SO dirty I thought the lack of shine was bc it was plastic! |

Thanks. I'm working on a few other projects right now. Hopefully I can finish and post those soon. I always find I have to have at least 3 or 4 things going at once. When I get frustrated or bored I need to put it away for a while before I can get on it again. How are you guys? Do you have to finish one project before you start another? Or have multiples going on at once? |
So....... the vintage lamp I got isn't really brass. The patina solution I got said it would patina real brass and copper.it didn't. |

Priscilla your doing soooo many projects your starting to make me feel guilty slacking on mine. Those sconces came out so great! I love how you made those drips! Ann your ceiling medallion looks so sparkly and fun! I love that little stand to the left of your table, it Los a little distressed. Love the lines of it too! |
I like to have a bunch of things going on at once. Trust me, I'm not that ambitious. I'm actually pretty lazy and it's hard for me to get going and get in the mood. True artist maybe? LOL But I actually don't like to call myself an artist. I feel it sounds kinda pretentious or show off-y. I for sure don't feel like an artist. Most of the time I'm sitting at the computer. =/ I dunno, what do you guys think? Ann, I know you paint. Do you think you are an artist or it's more of a hobby. I think if I was a real artist I would have to be able to make my living off it. Now it's just a hobby and every once in a while I sell something. |

No, I don't think it's pretentious at all to call yourself an artist - not at all. It's just a descriptor of part of who you are, part of what you do. Like a doctor is still a doctor even if they just do it part time or whatnot. I think it's super hard and the ultimate in vulnerability to create something from nothing and then be willing to share that created thingy w/ people, and have it judged. Van Gogh didn't make a living off his art...but, he's most definitely an artist, lol! This is true of most artists, who may not make a living off of their art but are artists to their very core. |
2 Attachment(s) Bought some gorgeous bougainvilleas for my entrance / courtyard - aren't they just purdy!!?? I love bougainvilleas so much. Got them at Home Depot. |
Bougs They do look gorgeous and set off the entrance so nicely. Look even prettier when they spread around and are on full color.:) |
