What (or where) is your fave way to vacation? I've still got vacay on the brain since we returned from our cruise last Nov. We enjoyed it so much we have another one booked for this Nov! I feel cruising is a for the most part safe, affordable, and easy way to see the world. However I hate flying, but the flights are not too bad for cruises out of the US. For us about 5 hrs or less. I don't feel like it's a vacation unless there is warm weather and turquoise blue waters. We used to RV when I was still a kid. I do not want to do that again! I'm sure many love it, but for me I feel trapped. I am sure many people will say they feel trapped on a ship! So what are your fave vacay memories? How about your dream vacation? |
I love camping! We traveled and did site seeing as a child and I hated it! We now have a fifth wheel and go camping a few time during the summer....sometimes for a long weekend and sometimes for a week. We are able to take our yorkies with us where ever we go and that is so important to us! I have family that go on a cruise every year. I am petrified of flying! Besides I would have a very hard time leaving our yorkies! I am attached to them as they are to me! |
My favorite way to vacation is in big cities and/or historical sites. While I enjoy the wonders of nature, I can only take a day or two of it. My all-time favorite vacation dates back to when I was 9 years old, when my family moved to Washington, DC. We took 2 weeks driving up the East Coast, stopping at all of the Colonial and Revolution era historical sites. This was right after the Bicentennial in 1976. We also spent a couple days on Cape Cod and in Maine for a little beach time. |

I like history but oooollllllddd stuff. I am leaning towards Mayan ruins for when we are in Belize. We went to Tulum last time. You saw the pics, I mean come on! Gorgeous! And People put Tulum in last place in comparison with Lamanai. You have to take a bus for 1.5 hrs on a bumpy road, then take a speed boat up river for another hour to get to the site in the middle of the jungle. On the way supposedly you can see crocs, monkeys, birds, iguanas, etc. And bugs. Lots and lots of bugs. One day I want to go to New England and have all the lobster rolls and oysters I can eat! |

I would love to see the ancient ruins in Central and Southern America, and I would enjoy the nature (aside from the bugs) along the way. Quote:

From what I learned last time, Belize has the highest concentration of Mayan ruins, not Mexico as I once thought. I saw a map and the sites were all dotted up and down the coast of Belize. This time we will also hit ports in Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, in addition to back to Belize and Coz. and Grand Cayman (swimming with sting rays!) Very reasonably priced. About as much as we paid for sailing on the Monstrousity of the Seas (Allure) with crappy ports. Plus we get the all we can drink package too! :happyboun |
If I didn't have to be here to comb hair out of Max and Teddy's eyes every 5 minutes :D, and I had an unlimited budget, I would love to travel to: Tokyo Sydney Hong Kong Beijing Moscow Saint Petersburg Yalta Amsterdam Berlin Paris London lots of places in Italy, Spain, and Portugal That is my short list. :) |

Actually last time before I went my friend got slashed by a sting ray in Long Beach right before I left and he told me all about it. He got two very deep wounds. That bugger got him twice! https://www.google.com/search?q=lama...=isch&imgdii=_ |

I like beaches, amusement parks, cities and shopping. I also like to go to Historic places, I'd love to go back to the Renn fair. Despite my location, near NY, Philly, and all kinds of historic stuff, I've only been able to go those places with school. I'm dieing to go back to Disney World, I'm obsessed with Disney. My dream vacation is to go to Tokyo Disney. Last summer I took Lola outlet shopping twice, it was great. I'd love to find more vacation spots to take her. |
I hate the Renn faire. We got harrassed big time and got called "faire idiots". They are allowed to be a**holes and fairly racist bc it's concurrent with the time. I don't like that. They only welcome Asians at our local ren faire if you are there with a big camera around your neck as a spectator but not as a participant. |

IDK are there Asians there that dress up? LOL I literally saw one Asian girl that was an employee there. I think they hired her so they wouldn't get sued. |
I feel as though I've never been on a real vacation, so I have nothing to add ther. I've taken trips, most of which sucked. None ever included warm weather and turquoise waters. Maybe some day soon I'll actually get to do something like that. I just wanted to say, Uni and Toto are always welcomed to stay with Kaji and me if MIL is ever too busy to watch them! We finally have the room and space to return the favor. :) |

I wore an old Halloween costume and no one said anything to me, but I'm extremely white and I was with my friend and his dad. They're both over 6', I think his dad is like 6'6". I've never felt shorter (5'2"). This is similar to my costume. Purple Renaissance Lady Costume | Womens Renaissance Halloween Costumes |

Disney World is the closest I've come to a real vacation. I went once Freshman year with my mom and grandmom and again for my Senior trip with school. Both times on a tight budget and I got sick with a bad sinus infection. It was hard growing up, my town has a lot of rich people and they'd constantly take all these awesome trips to Islands, Europe, and of course Disney World. I was bullied a lot for never going to Disney. It wasn't uncommon for people to take 3+ major trips a year (summer, christmas, easter) plus take days off school for vacations. Quote:

Explain to me what a v a c a t i o n is?? |
The closest thing to a vacation I've ever been on was a hotel when our roof was getting fixed lol |
I love going on vacation any where. One of my new fav places to go is San Francisco went there last year and had a blast. I think our big trip this year is going to be a combination Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas trip i have never been to either place |
We were young and did a lot of driving or car riding and the high lite of our day was the hotel pool! My brother now go camping in the summer! We park our campers, fish, swim and go boating! Basically just chill and enjoy! |
My fave vacation memories are the visual memories I have (and go back to) of each place in my mind: Amsterdam (LOVE!), Copenhagen, Madrid, Napa Valley, Colorado, San Fran, NYC, Seattle, New Orleans, San Diego, Charleston, Boston, Wash DC, Chicago, Sedona, Portland, Montana, Idaho, The Badlands, Hawaii, Mexico....and more I'm forgetting...all of these places have these little placeholders in my mind that are unique and special. As far as my dream trip -- our own plane so we can bring our 3 yorkies, and we'd travel all over Europe, Scandinavia, plus Morocco, Egypt, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bali, Bora Bora, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Nepal...and anywhere else our hearts desired. Our dream trip would include, of course, hotels that welcomed our 3 dogs and had sound proof walls for them :D. |
My dream vacation would include fishing for marlin out of Australia. We've taken cruises out of Florida, California and Washington. All of them were enjoyable and very affordable at about $100 a day per person. If you've never tried a cruise, I highly recommend at least one.... Generally most of my vacations are right here in state and include fishing. |
Right now, I would like a vacation anywhere that would get me out of the cold. |

I'm confused, I thought stingrays were deadly. Or was Steve Irwin's death a fluke because it got him in the heart? Quote:
My dad spent 3 months in a business exchange thing where he got to travel to Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. He was a maniac like you and has pictures of himself in a rocking boat, everyone is puking over the sides, but he is throwing oysters and beer down his throat. :p He weighed 130 pounds when he left, and came back weighing 155 pounds. The long plane rides would do me in, especially if the plane was packed. |
