Words That Are Unique to Your Area Ok, so another thread sparked this idea. What is a word/words that you hear, are familiar with, that others my not be? I am from the south so we have many! So y'all sit back because we are fixin' to see some neat things! So what do you have?? :D |

So babygirl & gardengirl...have y'all said somethin I shouldn't understand?:D I think it is funny that here a Coke is any type of pop or soda. If you order a Coke, the next question is "what kind". Cindersellie- we have cricks and obviously say y'all, but I think "devils strip" is very local to your area, according to an episode of Criminal Minds I saw. That colloquialism was used in the show to narrow down the search area for a murderer. (Yes, I'm full of worthless TV trivia) |

Coke, soda, pop are used around here. But we all know that most prefer some good ole southern sweet tea! |
Oh my gosh we have so many. My grandma used to call soda..dope  that could get you arrested now if you asked for dope at the drive thru window of McDonald's :D |
So how many of you shop at Wal Marks? :D. This one truly drives me nuts! |

When I was growing up, my Dad always used to call regular old milk "sweet milk". He'd say something like "I think I'd like a glass of sweet milk with my cake". |
