I live about an hour from Boston, grew up 20 minutes from the city. The world as I knew it, is gone. I always felt so safe in the city, now this. I had many friends and relatives running the Marathon, I thank god that no one I know is hurt or worse.
The good news is that the FBI served a search warrant last night on an apartment in a nearby town. Hoping that they got some answers on who would do such a horrible thing.

I heard on Fox news that the new thing for these terrorists to do is make bombs with pressure cookers. Its scary that a simple thing we use for cooking is being used for bomb making

I'll bet you do feel different. Once a person like the bombmaker targets an area, I don't think the people there are ever quite the same - at least not for years. I've heard some New Yorkers on TV say they have finally relaxed more and don't feel quite as scared as they used to and I hope that comes to Bostonians sooner rather than later. Probably some kook with a cause that hates the world! And so he goes out and ruins the lives of a lot of people - and he feels better??? IDK, we will never understand them.

You know if that catches on they will be regulating the purchase of pressure cookers.

Things sure have changed since I started this thread yesterday. At that time, CNN was saying maybe it was a gas leak or manhole explosion and didn't look so bad initially. Later, I changed to Fox and MSNBC and they had on the ground footage showing 2 explosions, the second looking and sounding worse than the first and you could tell that the force of the bomb was much worse and from all of the injured and blood that you saw that whatever it was, it was pretty bad. The latest I've heard is that the injured is inching toward 200 and 3 dead. If all of those healthcare workers and ambulances hadn't been on the scene, I'll bet there would have been more deaths but apparently those severely injured got help within a few minutes and had IV lines started quickly due to their ready access for the runners' needs. That was a Godsend and you don't usually have that at a bombing site. How that city is going to change after this! It's so sad.

I just heard reminants of pressure cookers were found at the attack site in Boston so they were used in this attack

Not only that, when all of the injured were transported to the hospitals, it was shift-change time. There is an overlap where doctors and nusrses that are getting ready to leave give reports on all of the patients to the doctors and nurses that are going to relieve them. So there were twice as many doctors and nurses in the hospital compared to what it would have been at another time.

Oh, and they are saying that the Saudi "person of interest" has been cleared. I have also read that pressure cookers are often used to make IED's in Afghanistan. Don't know if that's true.

What I am wondering is how they will be able to safely secure these type of events in the future. My Husband runs these marathons so Im familiar with how they go. In the spectator areas people come and go with backbacks and bags all the time. There are also spectators all along the route encouraging there loved one on. How do they secure that

Did you all see this absolutely heartbreaking picture of little Martin? I cannot look at this without crying. That poor little baby! He only lived 8 short years.

That is so sad his life was taken so brutally at such a young age

Little Martin will always be the face of this bombing to me after seeing his little eyes. So big and absolutely trusting. So full of promise.

That is no coincidence. A Higher Power knew this pic would live in infamy , even if poor Martin wouldn't.

Have you seen that new picture of that large bag sitting near the transh can right where there was explosion and heard that Senator Roger Wicker(R-MS) has been sent the deadly nerve agent Ricin in the mail, which was just revealed.

I just saw the picture and the bombing looks like it was tthat exact spot. It is good all congress members mail is tested before they get it

I'm sure it's coincidental about the timing of the bombing and the attempted Ricin poisoning being within hours of one another. Yes, I'm so glad that they test their mail off-site.

The more I look at that picture of the suspicious bag by the crowd-control fencing in Boston, the more I realize you just can't see if it is still there in the after photo due to the smoke. It could still be there but from the photo I've seen, the smoke blots out that place near the mailbox where it still could be.

cnn is reporting an arrest has been made....abc is saying hes in custody and an arrest is coming soon.

AP broke an arrest, CBC, NBC say non. CNN and Fox reporting an arrest made. Boston PD telling MSNBC no arrest as of 1:28 PM CST.

News now...Moakley court house is under a code red.....bomb threat. The ticker is running saying an arrest is imminent. Male suspect, Lord and Taylor caught him all on video, with bags and cell phone records calling at the time of the blasts.

I so wish I had never ever seen a picture I just saw. If reading stories online about the bombing, be very careful not to just click on any link for more pictures. Not all are redacted. Now I want them to get this/these vicious beasts even faster than I did before! Oh, I cannot wait until that person gets caught!
