| Pre-paid credit card question I don't shop online because I don't want to put my CC info out there and I have had my debit card compromised through a 3rd party service from a store front location...so, yah, I'm a bit paranoid! lol! So, my question is this...is it any safer to use a pre-paid credit card online? What information is tied to a pre-paid account and how exactly do they work? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Here's more information: https://www.visadpsgiftcard.com/gold...faqProgram.htm

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yeah, I know what you mean; my credit card info was stolen from my iPad, when I had to sign up for an iTunes account to use some of the features. The bank called me and the company that tried to use my credit card has been tied to this type of thief. So, I had to cancel that card, and will only use a prepaid on my iPad. They do charge a monthly fee though, which sucks. I thought I read that you’ve had problems with PayPal? I really love PayPal, and if I have a dispute with them, I just tell my cc company and they take care of it. So many different stores are using PayPal. I know you can buy a prepaid PayPal, but I think some account information is tied to it. I don’t know if you can buy one without that.

The pre-paid card charges a monthly fee? What do they do, take a certain amount from your balance each month? There are some gift cards that work that way...you have to use them within a certain amount of time or the balance slowly disappears. | |

| So, if you use the balance every month there is no fee? Like if I put $500.00 on the card at the first of the month and I use it by the end of the month there is no fee...correct? |

| Many of the banks that issue cards for Visa will let you get a temporary card number for online shopping. This is how it works: You want to buy something online (for instance, at 12345.com), you just go to your Visa account and request a temporary number. Then you use that number, not your permanent one, to complete the order at 12345.com. It can only be used once, and Visa issuer is the only entity that knows it is temporary and that it is tied to your real number. If someone hacks into 12345.com and steals names/credit card numbers of their customers, the one that you gave to complete your order is useless. Worried About Online Security? But, isn't that temporary number still tied to your information? So, if someone did hack into it wouldn't it still show your info or would it show nothing? | |

| But, what information is the temporary number tied to? I know your 'real' number is protected but doesn't the temporary number have to be tied to something in order for you to use it? Thieves can get new cards etc...with your information...not just your numbers...that's what worries me. |

| For those of you who do use a VISA prepaid card...I have another question... Do you have to go online to activate and give your social security number?? I was reading the info on the card at Wal-Mart and it said you had to do that. I don't understand why that would be needed. |
